On May 1, 2025, a round table discussion was held with master students of the second level of higher education to review the content and learning outcomes of the Educational and Professional Programme (EPP) “Environmental Design”. The meeting was attended by first-year master students, the programme guarantor Tetiana Bulhakova, PhD in Technical Sciences, Associate Professor, and Danylo Kosenko, PhD in Art Studies, Associate Professor, Head of the Department of Interior and Furniture Design.
Programme guarantor Tetiana Bulhakova, PhD in Technical Sciences and Associate Professor of the Department of Interior and Furniture Design, presented the key features of the “Environmental Design” master’s programme, highlighted recent updates to its curriculum, and discussed the intended learning outcomes that graduates are expected to achieve.
During the meeting, students actively participated in the discussion and generally expressed positive feedback about the programme. They highlighted that it provides comprehensive training, combining foundational knowledge with skills in project development and presentation, both in professional contexts and client interactions, while also supporting their research activities. One of the programme’s key strengths, they emphasized, is the inclusion of specialised theoretical and practical modules focused on the renovation of environmental design objects – an aspect especially relevant to Ukraine’s post-war reconstruction.
Several proposals were also put forward. Violetta Semenchenko suggested increasing the number of lectures by practicing environmental designers on the topic of starting and running a design business. Iryna Abramova recommended involving students in professional competitions during their studies and inviting experts from international design contests to conduct lectures, seminars, and workshops. Polina Katsion proposed expanding the focus on landscape design and urban improvement within the framework of complex environmental design projects.
As a result of the round table, several student proposals for improving the “Environmental Design” Educational and Professional Programme at the second (master’s) level of higher education were agreed upon and will be considered during the upcoming curriculum revision.
