PUBLIC LECTURE BY RAQUEL ANTUNES (PORTUGAL) WITHIN THE FRAMEWORK OF THE TEXTILE AND LIGHT INDUSTRY WEEK

On May 20, 2025, a public lecture by Raquel Antunes, a professor at Lusíada University of Lisbon and the Polytechnic Institute of Leiria (Portugal), was held at Kyiv National University of Technologies and Design. The lecture, titled “Unleashing Creativity. What’s Stopping You?”, focused on unlocking creative potential and overcoming barriers to innovation. The session was moderated by Liliya Chertenko, Associate Professor of the Department of Fashion Technology, PhD in Technical Sciences, and Tetiana Dzykovych, also an Associate Professor at the same department.

Students and academic staff of the Faculty of Arts and Fashion took part in the lecture. Among the participants were higher education students of the program G15 “Light Industry Technologies”.

 

During the lecture, Ms. Raquel Antunes delivered an engaging and insightful presentation, offering valuable recommendations on how to develop personal creativity. The session addressed key questions such as: “Who is a creative person?”, “What blocks our creativity?”, “How can we become more creative?”, and “What tools can help enhance creativity and boost creative potential?”

 

 

Additionally, Ms. Raquel emphasized the importance of methods and tools for fostering creativity, including:

– developing the ability to observe and retain visual information;

– self-awareness and identifying one’s own type of creative personality;

– overcoming limitations and stereotypes.

A separate section of the presentation focused on SCAMPER – a creative thinking strategy that utilizes brainstorming and mind mapping techniques to help individuals break away from conventional logic and generate a wide range of innovative ideas and approaches to problem-solving. Ms. Raquel also addressed the urgent and pressing issue of environmental sustainability. She emphasized that today’s ecological challenges demand new design approaches and effective, responsible solutions.

The lecture featured vivid visual materials and an interactive discussion with participants, making the session both informative and highly engaging.

At the end of the lecture, the head of the Department of Fashion Technology, Professor Olha Haranina, addressed the audience. Olha Oleksandrivna thanked Ms. Raquel for an interesting and meaningful lecture.
