From May 19 to 23, 2025, the Kyiv National University of Technology and Design hosted Science Week, a series of events aimed at developing scientific activity, promoting innovations, and stimulating international scientific cooperation.
On May 20, as part of the “Science Week at KNUTD 2025” program, an information session was held with the participation of representatives of the Horizon Europe Office in Ukraine of the National Research Foundation of Ukraine (NRFU). The event was dedicated to the presentation of the Office’s activities, opportunities for participation in the EU Framework Program for Research and Innovation “Horizon Europe,” as well as information support for the scientific community within the framework of the 2025 competitions.
The rector of KNUTD, professor, doctor of economic sciences, academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, Honored Worker of Education of Ukraine Ivan Gryshchenko, addressed the participants of the solemn event on the occasion of the celebration of Science Day in Ukraine with a welcoming speech. He emphasized the strategic importance of international scientific cooperation and presented the achievements of the university in the field of science and innovation.
The main part of the meeting was opened by Olga Kurykina, Candidate of Economic Sciences, Chief Specialist of the Office, who presented a report on the topic: “The Horizon Europe Program is the EU’s flagship research and innovation program.” In her speech, she focused on key areas, priorities, and conditions for participation in the program.
Igor Taranov, Candidate of Economic Sciences, Associate Professor, Head of the Horizon Europe Office in Ukraine, spoke about the activities of the Office as a project of the European Commission, which operates on the basis of the National Research and Development Center and has been successfully implemented for over a year and a half. He outlined the main areas of work and practical aspects of the participation of Ukrainian institutions in international scientific programs.
Natalia Didenko, Candidate of Agricultural Sciences, Senior Researcher, Deputy Head of the Department, presented the opportunities for participation in the program’s competitions for 2025, focusing on forms of information support for potential applicants.
After the session, the participants of the event from the Horizon Europe Office in Ukraine of the NFSU had the opportunity to get acquainted with the research infrastructure of the University ecosystem, which was presented by the Vice-Rector for Research and International Activities, Professor Lyudmila Hanushchak-Yefimenko. Representatives of the faculties, scientific units and laboratories presented existing research projects and equipment of educational and scientific laboratories purchased through international project activities.
The scientific community of the Kyiv National University of Technology and Design is grateful to the team of the Horizon Europe in Ukraine Office of the NFTU, which once again demonstrates its openness to the needs of the scientific, research and innovation community, actively participating in events at the invitation of the University.
Within the framework of the Science Week -2025, a rich program of events continued at the faculties and institutes: open lectures, master classes, seminars, hackathon, scientific quests and meetings with leading scientists. These initiatives contribute to the deepening of interaction between researchers, the exchange of innovative ideas and the development of the academic environment. At a meeting of the Academic Council of the University, the rector presented departmental awards of the Kyiv City Military Administration and the University to leading scientists and young scientists.
