FASHION SHOW OF THE COLLECTIONS OF DESIGNERS OF THE KYIV NATIONAL UNIVERSITY OF TECHNOLOGIES AND DESIGN AS PART OF THE INTERNATIONAL MUSEUM DAY IN WARSAW

As part of the celebration of the International Museum Day on May 17, a fashion show of Alina Mazur and Daryna Pashinska, young designers of the Kyiv National University of Technologies and Design, organized by the Queen Maria Casimir Foundation at the Wilanów Palace Museum, was held in Warsaw, Poland.

The initiator, organizer and producer of the event called "Royal Ball in Wilanów" is the President of the Foundation, Agnieszka Dagmara Michalczyk. For more than 10 years, the Foundation has been implementing the educational and charitable program "Debutantes", aimed at developing the social, historical and aesthetic sensitivity of the younger generation.

This year, the Kyiv National University of Technology and Design became a co-organizer of the event with the aim of developing the Ukrainian fashion industry, culture and its positioning in Europe.

The motto of this year's Royal Ball program in Wilanow is "Interior pulchritudo immortalisest".

As part of the event, on behalf of the rector of the university, academician Ivan Gryshchenko, Vice-Rector for Scientific and International Affairs Lyudmila Hanuszchak-Yefimenko spoke, thanking for the opportunity to be co-organizers of this year's event in Warsaw, the participation of the university's designers and the demonstration of Ukrainian collections. She introduced the designer Pashynska Daria with the collection "Samchykivka".

Pashynska Daria presented the idea of the collection, which consists in recreating the cultural Ukrainian heritage in modern clothes using the silhouettes and multi-layering of the Ukrainian authentic costume and decoration in the form of Samchykivka painting made using embroidery and applique.

"One of the bright visual features of the Ukrainian costume is its decoration. Therefore, in creating the collection, it was impossible not to integrate embroidery and applique from the folk tradition into modernity. The novelty of this integration will be manual machine embroidery, which will be performed using the following techniques: smooth roller, bead stitch, fork stitch, artistic smooth, decorative smooth, semi-smooth, fast smooth, and others,” the young designer noted.

The creative source in the development of the collection was Samchykiv painting, which was characteristic of southeastern Volyn in the 19th century. The characteristic features of Samchykiv painting are the use of bright colors, especially red, blue and yellow, which create contrasting and expressive compositions.

Elements of Samchykiv painting were later stylized and transformed in accordance with the idea, form and stylistic decision of the collection.

The next collection was presented by Alina Mazur “MASQUERADE BALL AFTER PARTY”, a designer from the Faculty of Design.

The collection is inspired by 18th century fashion and the Rococo style. The images combined the silhouettes of historical costumes with modern elements and materials. Most of the collection's models (80%) were made using the upcycling technique, namely: skirts were remade from old jeans and shirts, so the collection is ecological.

The show and demonstration of Ukrainian fashion collections was inspiring and exciting, with the possibility of continuing the positioning of the Ukrainian fashion industry in the next European program of the Republic of Poland intended for extremely talented women aged 19-29 in such categories as science, media, culture, art, social promotion and sport!

We congratulate our talented designers from the faculties of design and arts and fashion, thanking their creative directors and wishing them further inspiration and global recognition!
