On May 2, 2025, Kyiv National University of Technologies and Design hosted a guest lecture “Modern Concepts of Automation Control in Industry”, delivered by Oleksandr Vahanov, Doctor of Technical Sciences and Professor at the Department of Artificial Intelligence Systems and Telecommunication Technologies of Kyiv Institute of Railway Transport at the National Transport University, and an “Honorary Worker of Transport of Ukraine”.
The lecture was organized for first- (bachelor) and second-level (master) higher education students, as well as for the academic staff of the Department of Information and Computer Technologies, specializing in G7 Automation, Computer-Integrated Technologies and Robotics, and F2 Software Engineering.
The event was moderated by Vladyslava Skidan, Head of the Department of Information and Computer Technologies.
During the lecture, Professor Vahanov focused on the key aspects of modern industrial process management, in particular
- metrological support of production facilities and modern measurement technologies, which are the basis for improving the accuracy, reliability and efficiency of automated systems;
- quality management principles focused on the digitalization of control and analytics processes;
- introduction of lean manufacturing as an approach to optimizing resources and increasing the competitiveness of enterprises in the digital era;
- practical application of the Kaizen system as a tool for continuous process improvement.
Prof. Vahanov emphasized the need for an integrated approach to managing production systems, in particular, combining automation with the philosophy of continuous improvement, which is particularly relevant in today’s high-tech industries.
The lecture was conducted in an open-dialogue format, allowing participants to ask questions, share their thoughts, and receive professional advice from one of the leading experts.
