The guarantors of the EP “Environmental Design” of the first (bachelor’s) level, Associate Professor Danylo Kosenko, and of the second (master’s) level, Associate Professor Tetiana Bulhakova, familiarised stakeholders with the educational and professional programmes, main goals, educational components (ECs) that contribute to the formation of general and professional competencies and the achievement of programme learning outcomes.

Colleagues shared their own experiences in training bachelors and masters in specialty B2 “Design” at higher education institutions in Ukraine and generally gave positive feedback on the content of the EP “Environmental Design”, as well as provided suggestions for improvement.

For instance, Professor Yulia Tretiak advised strengthening the connection between the programme learning outcomes 18-20 and professional competencies in the master’s level EP, as well as combining EC 4 “Renovation of Environmental Design Objects” with EC 5 “Design in Environmental Design”.

Professor Oksana Lahoda shared her experience in organising pedagogical training for master’s level students, fully supported the separation of EC “Conceptual Design of Environmental Design Objects” into a separate component, and also proposed to rename EC 5 to “Environmental Design Projecting”.

Natalia Skliarenko advised to enhance the topic of digital technologies in the training of master’s students, for example, within the course “Conceptual Design of Environmental Design Objects” or by adding a separate educational component. Regarding the bachelor’s programme, Natalia Skliarenko recommended clarifying the names of the educational components “Fundamentals of Environmental Design”, “Design Projecting”, “Environmental Design”, which, although consistent and devoted to the gradual development of professional competencies over four years, may cause confusion due to the similarity of names. As an option, it was proposed to combine some of these components.

Professor Oksana Lahoda and Associate Professor Serhii Koval shared their considerations regarding the introduction from the new academic year, according to legislative requirements, of the course “Basic General Military Training” based on draft changes to the educational programmes of KSADA and Admiral Makarov NUS.

Master student Violetta Semenchenko expressed the idea of combining the EC “Pedagogical Technologies in Designer Training” with the EC “Methodology of Modern Scientific Research with Fundamentals of Intellectual Property” and proposed to add pedagogical practical training for master students.

Based on the results of the meeting, a number of proposals from stakeholders regarding the improvement of the EP “Environmental Design” for the bachelor’s and master’s levels were summarised, which will be considered by the working groups during the programme updates. The guarantors of the programmes, Danylo Kosenko and Tetiana Bulhakova, thanked the participants for their comments and suggestions.
