ROUND TABLE ON EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS AT THE DEPARTMENT OF MECHANICAL ENGINEERING

On May 29, 2025, a round table was held at Kyiv National University of Technologies and Design to discuss the educational programs provided by the Department of Mechanical Engineering. These include the bachelor’s program in the specialty G9 Applied Mechanics and the bachelor’s, master’s, and Doctor of Philosophy programs in the specialty G11 Mechanical Engineering (by specialization). Participants of the round table, both in-person and online, included guarantors and members of the working groups of the educational programs, academic staff of the Department of Mechanical Engineering, students, and employers.

The Head of the Department, Associate Professor Oleksii Volianyk, expressed his gratitude for the effective work during the 2024–2025 academic year to the guarantors of the educational programs: Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technologies, Professor Ihor Panasiuk, Associate Professor Mykola Rubanka, and Associate Professor Volodymyr Dvorzhak. He acknowledged their contribution to ensuring the high-quality training of students at the Department of Mechanical Engineering and their ongoing collaboration with stakeholders.

An important part of the event was the discussion of the results of the accreditation evaluation of the educational and scientific program Industrial Mechanical Engineering for the training of PhD students in specialty G11 Mechanical Engineering (by specialization). The guarantor of the program, Professor Ihor Panasiuk, presented the reports received from the expert group and the Sectoral Expert Council, highlighted the strengths of the program, and outlined directions for further development. Members of the working group, Professor Borys Zlotenko, Associate Professor Oleksandr Manoilenko, and stakeholders from the engineering company Technopolis, proposed editorial clarifications to the program learning outcomes and updates to certain educational components of the program.

Students also took an active part in the discussion of the educational and scientific program. In particular, PhD student Kostiantyn Bilashov submitted proposals for improving and transforming the Computer Modelling of Mechanical Systems component. Proposals were also received from bachelor’s level students regarding the improvement of the respective educational programs Applied Mechanics and Mechanical Engineering, specifically suggesting an increase in the number of hours allocated to the important course Engineering and Computer Graphics, which is essential for future engineers.

It is worth noting that such events involving the regular review and improvement of educational programs are an integral part of the well-established internal quality assurance system for educational activities at Kyiv National University of Technologies and Design.
