During May 26-30, 2025, a delegation of the university, consisting of the Vice-Rector for Scientific and International Activities Liudmyla Hanushchak-Yefimenko, the Director of the International Institute of Postgraduate and Doctoral Studies Svitlana Arabuli, and the Director of the Scientific and Technical Library Tetiana Bukoros, took part in the Erasmus+ K171 academic mobility program at the University of Granada (Spain).
International cooperation with the University of Granada began in 2024 and, based on the results of the delegation's visit, was extended until 2027, with the aim of implementing joint scientific research and scientific internships.
The University of Granada is the fourth largest state institution of higher education and a research center with 21 research institutes in Spain. The main emphasis is on experiments in the fields of medicine, engineering, social and computer sciences, art and design. Founded by papal decree of Clement VII in 1531 on the basis of the Madrasa, which existed since 1349.
The University of Granada is represented by 17 faculties and 4 schools, with 124 departments, where fifty-eight thousand students from all over the world study 89 bachelor's, 108 master's and 28 doctoral programs. The university structure consists of 5 urban campuses: Centro, Cartuja, Fuentenueva, Aynadamar and Ciencias de la Salud and, respectively, 2 more campuses located in North Africa in the cities of Ceuta and Melilla.
During the visit, working meetings were held with partners on the implementation of the Erasmus+ K171 program. Among the issues discussed:
- effective management of international mobility programs;
- management of international projects, formation of international alliances and networks;
- recommended practices for improving IRO communication with students.
During the week, academic mobility participants studied management practices with representatives of other educational institutions from 28 countries of the world regarding the development of internationalization in their professional areas, exchanged experiences, and discussed the prospects for implementing joint scientific projects.
Vice-Rector Liudmyla Hanushchak-Yefimenko took part in the seminar "Management of Erasmus+ KA171 mobility projects and resolving doubts" (especially for new KA171 partners) and conducted a seminar on "Internationalization beyond mobility: work within international academic cooperation projects".
During the visit, meetings were held with teachers, the administration, as well as representatives of the international office of the host country. Professor Simon Suarez (Director of International Mobility at the University of Granada) conducted an introduction to the structure of the Vice-Rectorate for Internationalization and Emergency Management in International Mobility. The main areas of exchange were: discussion of approaches to the internationalization of educational and scientific programs, establishment of interuniversity cooperation, and participation in interdisciplinary scientific projects.
Each international positioning of our university among the universities of the European Union becomes an important step in the development of internationalization, opens up new opportunities for the implementation of joint initiatives, and strengthens partnership ties between the Kyiv National University of Technologies and Design and the University of Granada.
Among the prospects for cooperation with the University of Granada, the following are identified: current joint work on joining the International Alliance of EU Universities, the formation of a digital platform for double degrees, and the formation of a consortium for submitting joint applications and implementing interdisciplinary scientific projects under the Erasmus + K2 programs.
Together in international cooperation towards a peaceful European future!
