Lecturers and students of KNUTD, through their active volunteer activities, constantly help the Armed Forces of Ukraine, military personnel, children, and displaced persons affected by the war.

In May 2025, Oleksandr Vasyliev, Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Design, Doctor of Philosophy, Senior Teacher at the Department of Graphic Design, was awarded the distinction "For Assistance to the Army" by the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, General Oleksandr Stanislavovych Syrsky (Order of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine dated 05.04.2025 No. 239). The award was presented by Serhiy Zatolokin, Chief of the Main Staff, First Deputy Head of the Administration of the State Special Transport Service, Major General.  

Oleksandr Vasyliev is engaged in volunteer activities that contribute to strengthening the defense capability of Ukraine, applies professional knowledge and skills of a designer to develop layouts for 3D printing of spare parts for military equipment, layouts for marking equipment, transferring volunteer funds to combat units of the Ukrainian army. Oleksandr also performs 3D printing of spare parts and laser marking of equipment for the military and develops elements of corporate symbols for military formations, charitable foundations, and their partners.

This is the second award for Oleksandr Serhiyovych for active volunteer work. In 2024, at a meeting of the Academic Council of the KNUTD, Rector Ivan Gryshchenko, Doctor of Science in Economics, Professor, Academician of the National Academy of Pedagogical Sciences of Ukraine, presented Oleksandr Vasyliev with the award of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine -the medal "For Assistance to the Armed Forces" (order of the Minister of Defense of Ukraine dated 05/08/2024 No. 692) for volunteer work.
