On May 22, 2025, on the eve of Heroes' Day, a trip to the village of Stavchany, Khotyn District, Chernivtsi Region, was organised with the support of the university administration and the Dean of the Faculty of Chemical and Biopharmaceutical Technologies, Tetiana Derkach.
Despite the early time, the students of the Faculty of Chemical and Biopharmaceutical Technologies set off in a good mood.
The students of the Faculty, together with Oksana Butenko, Deputy Dean, and Iryna Liashok, Associate Professor of the Department of Chemical Technologies and Resource Saving, visited Khotyn Special School No. 1, an educational, correctional and rehabilitation institution that meets the needs of children with intellectual disabilities in general education, social assistance and rehabilitation in society, with a charity programme.
Students of the Faculty held a master class on creating patriotic souvenirs, which the pupils sincerely presented to the defenders, accompanied by wishes for health, peace, and victory.
The school's students are sensitive and talented children who enjoy creative work and outdoor games. All the children received gifts, including art kits, sports equipment, and sweets. The KNUTD's Students presented a small holiday to the children who won their hearts with their sincerity and kindness.
The school's students also prepared a gift – a hand-embroidered icon with blessings for peace, goodness, and prosperity for our higher education institution.
This visit was a vivid example of the indifference of young people and their desire to bring joy to those who need it most, giving children the most valuable things - their time, attention, warmth, and sincere smiles.
Currently, the specialised school is located in the Stavchany Vocational Lyceum, so university teachers have conducted career guidance work, inviting lyceum students to continue their studies at KNUTD.
The educational institution is situated on the grounds of Stavchany Park, a late nineteenth-century landscape garden monument of local importance in Ukraine and an object of the Chernivtsi region's nature reserve fund. The park is interesting for studying balanced nature management, environmental protection, and the formation of appropriate ecological awareness for its implementation in all spheres of life.
On the way back, the chemistry students had a nice bonus - an excursion to the Kamianets-Podilskyi Castle. This informative excursion was a great opportunity not only to deepen their knowledge of history but also to feel the spirit of past eras. The guide provided students with detailed information about the fortress's defensive significance, as well as legends and myths related to its foundation and heroic events. Such educational excursions are an integral part of the educational process, as they provide students with the opportunity to study the history and culture of their home country, broaden their worldview, and expand their horizons.
With very little time, the students nevertheless visited the Old Town and rushed through the ancient streets of Kamianets-Podilskyi, immersing themselves in its unique atmosphere.
This trip not only enriched the students with new knowledge but also contributed to team building and left vivid memories.
This charity event was not only a source of joy for the children but also an inspiring example for everyone because together, we can make the world a kinder place, and the warmth of human hearts can create real miracles.
The Faculty of Chemical and Biopharmaceutical Technologies is sincerely grateful to the Rector of the University, Ivan Gryshchenko, for providing comfortable transport and to the Vice-Rector, Volodymyr Bobrovnyk, for his assistance in organising the trip.
We sincerely hope that the charity programme, under the slogan 'With goodness in the heart', will be implemented many times in the future, providing holidays to those who need them.
