ONLINE INFORMATION SESSION “THREE YEARS OF THE TWINNING INITIATIVE”

On 23 June 2025, representatives of KNUTD took part in the online information session “Three Years of the Twinning Initiative”. During the meeting, partners, university representatives and the “Twinning” team summed up the results of three years of cooperation and discussed further steps for sustainable cooperation between Ukrainian and British higher education institutions.

Speakers at the event included Mychailo Wynnyckyj, Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine, Martin Cushing, Regional Manager for Science and Innovation in Central and Eastern Europe at the UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO), and Charles Cormack, Chairman of Cormack Consultancy Group and founder of the UK-Ukraine Twinning initiative.

The meeting was moderated by Yana Sydorenko, Project Manager of Ukraine Twinning / Cormack Consultancy Group. The meeting was attended by Oleksandr Smirnov, project director of Ukraine Twinning / Cormack Consultancy Group.

KNUTD was represented by Liudmyla Hanushchak-Yefimenko, Vice-Rector for Research and International Cooperation, and Kalyna Pashkevych, Dean of the Faculty of Design.

In his speech, Mychailo Wynnyckyj emphasised the importance of the project and thanked the British partners for supporting Ukrainian educational institutions, which are in particular need of it now.


Charles Cormack presented the main achievements of the initiative over the past three years and outlined a common vision for its future development.

 

The participants shared their experience of implementing the project's initiatives, discussed new challenges and opportunities for deepening partnerships between universities.

Kyiv National University of Technologies and Design has been participating in the “Twinning” project since 2021. KNUTD's partner is Sheffield Hallam University (UK).

In 2024, KNUTD received the first generator as part of the “Generators4Ukraine” fundraising campaign as part of the “Twinning” initiative from the British company Cormack Consultancy Group, and a series of lectures by visiting professors for design students from the Sheffield Hallam University Institute of Creative Industries took place. Students and teachers of KNUTD took an active part in the English language learning project on the “English4Ukraine” platform with the support of Mariupol State University in cooperation with Reallyenglish.
