Kyiv National University of Technologies and Design has consistently maintained its leading position among the top universities in Kyiv for several consecutive years.

On June 20, 2025, the Center for International Projects “Euroosvita,” in partnership with the international expert group IREG Observatory on Academic Ranking and Excellence, presented the nineteenth academic ranking of higher education institutions of Ukraine “Top-200 Ukraine 2025”.

While compiling this year’s ranking, the experts took into account the current trends in the transformation of higher education.

Thanks to the continuous development of scientific potential, the dedicated efforts of the academic staff, and effective management, Kyiv National University of Technologies and Design has strengthened its position and ranks among the top 10 state higher education institutions in Kyiv, holding the 35th position among all universities in Ukraine!

According to the “Euroosvita” Center, in compiling the “Top-200 Ukraine 2025” ranking, special attention was given to indicators reflecting the impact of artificial intelligence on research activities, innovation performance, and the social influence of universities.

Among international systems that most comprehensively take these effects into account, THE University Impact Rankings 2025 stands out. Its methodology already incorporates modern AI tools, including large language models (LLMs), for automatic analysis and verification of the relevance of data submitted by universities. This significantly enhances the accuracy and transparency of the evaluation. In addition, the Webometrics ranking in the current edition has been replaced by a more structured and representative indicator – the SCImago Institutions Rankings, whose methodology was updated in 2024. It is based on three key components:

• Research (50%) – research activity, in particular the growth in the number of publications and patents related to AI;
• Innovation (30%) – іnnovativeness, assessed through the number of AI-related patents and citations in patents;
• Societal (20%) – social impact, which takes into account the university’s growing presence on the internet and scientific platforms, largely due to the use of AI technologies.

Basic principles for determining the rankings of universities in the “Top-200 Ukraine 2025”:

a) Ensuring openness, transparency, objectivity, and independence in the ranking of universities. To achieve this, only openly available data from direct measurements published on the web resources of independent national and international organizations and institutions were used.

b) Consideration of the comprehensiveness and multifaceted nature of university activities. For this purpose, their work was collectively evaluated based on a broader set of indicators.

c) Priority of European integration processes. Given the importance of European integration processes in higher education for Ukraine, the weighting coefficients of international university performance indicators (QS World University Rankings, Times Higher Education World University Rankings, Scopus, SCImago, THE University Impact Rankings, QS WUR Sustainability) are set higher than the weighting coefficients of national indicators.
