ROUND TABLE WITH STAKEHOLDERS ON IMPROVEMENT OF THE EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMME "DESIGN (BY TYPES)" IN THE SPECIALITY В2 "DESIGN"

The Faculty of Design at Kyiv National University of Technologies and Design regularly organizes meetings with stakeholders to enhance the content of educational programs, improve their quality, and align them with current labor market demands.

On May 15, 2025, the Faculty of Design hosted a round table with representatives from the academic community, employers, students, and graduates. The event focused on discussing the second (master’s) level educational and professional program in the speciality В2 "Design", field of knowledge В "Culture, Art and Humanities" – “Design (by types)”.

 

The moderator of the event was the guarantor of the educational program, Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Professor of the Department of Graphic Design, Olha Yezhova. In her opening remarks, she emphasized the importance of stakeholder dialogue to ensure the quality of education and its compliance with the requirements of modern professional practice.

Participants from KNUTD included:

Kalyna Pashkevych – Dean of the Faculty of Design, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor;

Nataliia Chuprina – Doctor of Art History, Professor, Head of the Department of Art and Costume Design;

Tetiana Krotova – Doctor of Art History, Professor of the Department of Art and Costume Design;

Olena Vasylieva – Candidate of Technical Sciences, Associate Professor, Head of the Department of Multimedia Design;

Danylo Kosenko – Candidate of Art History, Associate Professor, Head of the Department of Interior and Furniture Design;

Olena Gerasymenko – PhD, Associate Professor of the Department of Art and Costume Design;

Tetiana Buhlakova – Candidate of Technical Sciences, Associate Professor of the Department of Interior and Furniture Design.

The discussion also included lecturers, postgraduate students, and master’s students of the Faculty of Design.

Invited guests included representatives of leading Ukrainian and international higher education institutions:

Anzhela Skrypchenko – Candidate of Technical Sciences, Professor, Faculty of Design, Technical University of Moldova;

Oksana Lahoda – Doctor of Art History, Professor, Head of the Department of Textile and Clothing Design, Kharkiv State Academy of Arts;

Lada Tsymbala – Candidate of Art History, Associate Professor of the Department of Art Theory and History, Lviv National Academy of Arts;

Nataliia Skliarenko – Doctor of Art History, Professor of the Department of Architecture and Design, Lutsk National Technical University;

Yuliia Tretiak – Doctor of Architecture, Professor, Head of the Department of Design, Kyiv National University of Construction and Architecture;

Sviatoslav Berdynskykh – Candidate of Technical Sciences, Associate Professor, Head of the Department of Design, University of Economics and Law “KROK”;

Serhii Koval – Candidate of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Associate Professor, Head of the Department of Design, Admiral Makarov National University of Shipbuilding.

Dean of the Faculty of Design, Kalyna Pashkevych, presented the history of the development of the "Design (by types)" program, highlighting its significance as the faculty’s first master’s level program and its role in the advancement of design education.

Program guarantor, Professor Olha Yezhova, provided an in-depth overview of the educational program, introducing stakeholders to its objectives, structure, key components, and the competency-based approach applied in training future professionals.

During the discussion, participants offered constructive feedback and suggestions for improving the educational program.
Professor Nataliia Skliarenko emphasized the need to revise the list of potential graduate job positions in accordance with the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine No. 1021 dated August 30, 2024, since some of the listed positions, such as “animator,” are more relevant to specialty В1 “Audiovisual Art and Media Production.”

Professor Oksana Lahoda noted that the program currently includes multiple design directions — graphic, multimedia, environmental, and fashion design. She recommended refining the program’s focus in line with the chosen specialization of Graphic Design by removing unrelated design areas.

Sviatoslav Berdynskykh remarked that the educational program complies with the standard for the specialty “Design”.

At the conclusion of the meeting, Professor Olha Yezhova thanked the participants for their valuable comments and proposals aimed at improving the program.

As a result of the discussion, it was agreed that the stakeholders’ recommendations would be taken into account in the further development of the educational and professional program "Design (by types)".
