DISCUSSION OF THE INTERNATIONAL ACADEMIC ONLINE MOBILITY PROJECT OF TEACHERS OF THE FACULTY OF DESIGN WITH FOREIGN PARTNERS

On August 8, 2025, another meeting of participants in the international academic online mobility project (Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL)) took place, which brought together teachers of the Faculty of Design of KNUTD, King Abdul Aziz University (Saudi Arabia), Texas State University (USA), and the University of Greensboro in North Carolina (USA).

Partners from educational institutions in Ukraine, the United States, and Saudi Arabia met to discuss the details of the next COIL project, which is scheduled to be implemented in the first semester of 2025-2026. The project will focus on responsible clothing consumption and promote cultural exchange, bringing together students and teachers from different countries for learning and creative communication. It is planned that students will conduct research in the field of sustainable fashion in multicultural teams and complete assignments to highlight the concepts of sustainable clothing production and use.

The Department of Art and Fashion Design has already successfully implemented the international academic online mobility project Fashion for a Good Life in 2024-2025, in which more than 20 students of the Faculty of Design of the KNUTD participated. Also, in 2025, the Faculty of Design implemented another COIL project with representatives of Birmingham City University (UK), the School of the Art Institute of the University of Chicago (USA) Global Live Project: A Portal Connecting Three Countries. International academic online mobility projects are very popular in the world due to their accessibility for students, the ability to reach a large number of education seekers and teachers.

Kalyna Pashkevych, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor, Dean of the Faculty of Design, teachers of the Department of Art and Fashion Design Iryna Davydenko, Associate Professor, Maryna Yatsenko, Candidate of Technical Sciences, Associate Professor discussed with partners the concept and stages of implementation of a new joint international project.

During the meeting, Cosette Joyner Martinez, the initiator of the project, professor at Texas State University, spoke, specifying the planned modules for study, the expected number of students from each university, and the project implementation timeline.

The discussion was attended by Wijdan Tawfik, Associate Professor, Head of the Department of Fashion and Textiles, Shadia Salem, Professor of the Department of Fashion and Textiles, King Abdulaziz University, Rana Alblowi, Associate Professor at Prince Sattam bin Abdulaziz University (Saudi Arabia), Elena Karpova, Putman and Hayes Distinguished Professor at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro (USA).

The project involves improving and teaching individual modules of educational components of educational programs implemented at the Faculty of Design of the KNUTD to participants of online mobility within the framework of international cooperation with world universities. Communication between teachers and students from international teams will take place on the Padlet platform, it is planned to involve more than 300 students from different countries of the world.
