August 18, 2025, was a special day for first-year students of the Faculty of Chemical and Biopharmaceutical Technologies. The solemn initiation ceremony was the first significant event in their educational life, marking the beginning of an exciting journey into the world of science and innovation.
The event was opened by the dean of the faculty, Tetiana Derkach, who warmly welcomed the new generation of students. On behalf of the acting rector, Oleksandra Olshanska, the rector's office, and the university administration, she congratulated the first-year students. She thanked them for their conscious and confident choice in favour of quality education at KNUTD.
Addressing the students, Tetiana Derkach emphasised the importance of their future profession for the development of modern science. She stressed that the chemical and biopharmaceutical industries are up-and-coming and that a new generation of specialists will create technologies that will change the world.
At the event, students met the key figures of the faculty. The dean introduced the dean's office staff, department heads, and academic group curators. Deputy Dean for Educational Work Hanna Tarasenko, Head of the Department of Biotechnology, Leather, and Fur Olena Mokrousova, Professor of the Department of Industrial Pharmacy Volodymyr Bessarabov, and Associate Professor of the Department of Chemical Technologies and Resource Saving Olena Kryukova warmly addressed the students. They talked about the most interesting aspects of the departments' work and gave the students valuable advice.
An essential part of the meeting was the speeches by representatives of the Student Self-government and the Student Trade Union Committee, who spoke about opportunities for self-development, the protection of students' rights, and various events held at the university.
The next day, Oksana Butenko, Deputy Dean for educational work, organised a tour of the university's infrastructure for first-year students to help them adapt more quickly to the educational process, which is different from school. The meetings took place in a warm and friendly atmosphere, which helped first-year students feel part of the big university family.
We sincerely wish the first-year students success in their studies, perseverance, and unforgettable student years! May this time be filled not only with new knowledge, but also with interesting discoveries, bright events, and true friends. Happy journey into the world of science and knowledge!
