CREATIVE COOPERATION BETWEEN THE DEPARTMENT OF ART AND FASHION DESIGN WITH THE NATIONAL MUSEUM “KYIV ART GALLERY”

On August 15, 2025, first-level (bachelor’s) higher education students of the educational programs “Fashion Design” and “Graphic Design”, together with teachers of the Department of Art and Fashion Design Halyna Kokorina and Iryna Chubotina, visited an art exhibition at the National Museum “Kyiv Art Gallery”. The exhibition of works entitled “BZH-ART: On the Rights of the Community” presents the work of 44 artists and is the result of a study of the legacy of the Kyiv squat on Velyka Zhytomyrska and its influence on contemporary Ukrainian art. The tour was conducted by Veronika Shchukina, a graduate of the Department of Art and Fashion Design at KNUTD, who currently holds the position of Head of the Department of Contemporary Art and is the curator of the project. Visiting the exhibition was aimed not only at getting acquainted with the work of contemporary Ukrainian artists, but also at providing an opportunity to rethink the artistic heritage in order to develop their own design projects.

This meeting is the second in the framework of cooperation between the museum and the Department of Art and Fashion Design. On June 20, 2025, at the initiative of the museum staff, KNUTD students were involved in a costumed performance on the topic: “The Art of Costume: From Baroque to Modern”. The format of the meeting was set by the exhibition of two paintings by M. Ge: “Portrait of Mykhailo Myklashevsky” (early 18th century) and “Portrait of Maria Skoropadska” (late 19th century). During the performance, students of the educational program “Fashion Design” under the guidance of the curators of the event – Halyna Kokorina, Candidate of Technical Sciences, Associate Professor, and Iryna Chubotina, Doctor of Philosophy, had the opportunity to present replicas of historical costumes from the collections of the Costume Library of the Department of Art and Fashion Design, get acquainted with the interiors and original works of art, immerse themselves in the history of fashion, feel like a part of the past and experience extremely vivid emotions.

This lively event inspired true enthusiasm among students and sought to revive Ukrainian artistic and cultural traditions in contemporary society.

We thank the staff of the National Museum "Kyiv Art Gallery" for their cooperation and look forward to new unforgettable meetings with the world of art!
