On September 25, 2025, Tetiana Derkach, Dean of the Faculty of Chemical and Biopharmaceutical Technologies at Kyiv National University of Technologies and Design, participated in the focus group meeting "Pharmaceuticals and Biotechnologies" as part of the update to Kyiv's smart specialisation priorities.
The event, initiated by the Kyiv City State Administration in cooperation with HLB Ukraine LLC, brought together representatives of business, government, academia, and the public. The discussion focused on key issues related to the further development of the pharmaceutical and biotechnology sectors in the capital, as well as ways to integrate science and education into the needs of the economy. Particular attention was given to the development of innovative solutions that can address current challenges and foster the city's economic growth.
The participation of the Faculty in such events is significant, as it provides an opportunity to present the scientific and educational potential of KNUTD among leading experts, establish partnerships with businesses, pharmaceutical companies, and governmental institutions, develop educational programs that correspond to modern innovation trends and market needs, and integrate university science into solving urgent economic and social challenges.
Within the discussion, the Faculty received support for its own educational initiatives developed in collaboration with leading pharmaceutical enterprises. In particular, these include:
"Bioschool", initiated and established by Kostiantyn Yefymenko, President of Biopharma Plasma, at KNUTD. Here, 8th–10th grade students can study chemistry, biology, and mathematics free of charge with young and creative lecturers, using modern equipment.
Kyiv Open Lab Project by Farmak, which this year expands its program of master classes at the Faculty, with excursions for 11th graders directly to the drug producer.
As a result of the meeting, Viktoriia Mokhonko, Head of the Strategic Planning Department at the Kyiv City State Administration's Economy and Investment Department, supported the initiative to promote KNUTD projects.
Such meetings provide a genuine platform for dialogue among education, science, business, and government, fostering the development of a shared vision for Kyiv's growth as an innovative and technological hub.
