MODERN TECHNOLOGIES OF LIGHT INDUSTRY: PUBLIC LECTURE BY THE COMPANY TM “BERLOGA” FOR STUDENTS OF THE FACULTY OF ARTS AND FASHION

As part of the cooperation with domestic manufacturers, a public interactive lecture was held on September 15 at the Faculty of Arts and Fashion of Kyiv National University of Technologies and Design. The event featured representatives of the Ukrainian company TM “Berloga”, a producer of tourist and military equipment. The meeting was organized for students of the G15 “Light Industry Technologies” program and became a unique platform for exchanging knowledge and inspiring young specialists.

Dmytro Fisher, co-founder of TM “Berloga”, spoke about the company’s history, mission, and approaches to developing and designing high-quality products used in various fields. He emphasized that the first models were inspired by his own hiking experience, when it became clear that many standard solutions failed to meet the needs of travelers carrying all their equipment themselves. He also discussed in detail the concept of multifunctionality and transformability, which ensures the universal use of equipment under different conditions.

During the meeting, students had the opportunity to observe examples of product transformations and combinations, and to learn about innovative approaches to their design and manufacturing. Dmytro placed particular emphasis on the importance of selecting high-quality materials and their role in creating competitive products. The students were introduced to modern solutions actively applied in the company’s production, including specialized synthetic fabrics with water-repellent and wear-resistant properties; fittings from leading global manufacturers (YKK, Woojin) that meet international quality standards; fire-resistant insulation that ensures protection under high temperatures and enhances product performance; and AP-type ballistic packages designed to provide user safety in extreme conditions. The demonstration of product samples enabled students to gain hands-on experience with the design features and transformation capabilities of the equipment.

During the lecture, it was emphasized that a significant part of the products of the TM “Berloga” are developed and manufactured taking into account the needs of military personnel. The company’s products are actively used by representatives of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, which confirms their high quality, reliability and ability to perform functions in combat conditions.

The dialogue between the company representatives and the students that arose during the lecture deserves special attention. The young people were actively interested in the practical application of equipment in field and hiking conditions, the specifics of its use by military personnel, as well as modern trends in design and materials science. In particular, the participants of the student scientific club “Creation of new types of special, production, uniform clothing with predicted characteristics” were interested in how product testing is carried out before its mass production; how manufacturers check the strength of materials and accessories in extreme conditions; how easy it is to maintain and repair products in the field, etc. Dmytro Fisher emphasized that the products undergo multi-stage testing, in particular in real operating conditions, because it is feedback from users that allows us to improve design solutions. They also noted that cooperation with the Armed Forces of Ukraine has become an important impetus for the introduction of innovative materials, including fire-resistant insulation and ballistic elements.

The dialogue was not only informative but also motivating: company representatives urged students to focus on the real needs of the user when developing new design objects, emphasizing that it is practicality and functionality that determine the competitiveness of products.

The event held significant educational and professional value, serving as an example of successful cooperation between the academic community and Ukrainian business. For students, it became a source of relevant knowledge about modern approaches to developing light industry products and a case study of integrating advanced materials into production processes. For TM “Berloga”, the lecture offered an opportunity to showcase its achievements, highlight the importance of cooperation with military structures, and contribute to the formation of practice-oriented thinking among future specialists – focused on the modern challenges that shape the future of Ukraine’s light industry.
