ACADEMIC INTEGRITY AS A COMPONENT OF THE KNUTD EDUCATIONAL QUALITY SYSTEM

In September–October 2025, lectures on "Legal and Ethical Principles of Academic Integrity" were held at the Kyiv National University of Technologies and Design, organized by the Center for Monitoring the Quality of Educational Activities (CMYAOD) in cooperation with the deans' offices of the faculties.

The aim of the events was to improve the legal, ethical and academic culture of participants in the educational process, to form an awareness of responsibility for adhering to the principles of honesty, transparency and mutual respect.

The following took part in the lectures and discussions: Dean of the Faculty of Design, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor Kalyna PASHKEVYCH ; Director of the Educational and Scientific Institute of Law and Modern Technologies, Candidate of Economic Sciences, Associate Professor Tetyana VLASYUK ; Dean of the Faculty of Chemical and Biopharmaceutical Technologies, Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Professor Tetyana DERKACH , as well as guarantors of educational programs, curators, teachers, higher education applicants and representatives of student self-government.

The lectures were attended by students of educational programs of various specialties. On September 25, 2025, the event was held for students of educational programs "Fitness and Recreation", "English: Translation in Business Communication", "Political Science and Public Communications", "Economic and Legal Activities", " Smart Economics " and "International Economics"; on October 7, 2025 - for students of educational programs "Clothing Design", "Environmental Design", "Multimedia Design", "Graphic Design"; on October 8, 2025 - for students of educational programs "Biotechnology", "Chemical Technologies and Engineering", "Innovative Pharmaceuticals".

The lectures covered:

  • legal basis for maintaining academic integrity in accordance with the legislation of Ukraine;
  • ethical principles of interaction between all participants in the educational process;
  • typical manifestations of academic violations and mechanisms for their prevention;
  • procedures for detecting academic plagiarism, compliance with copyright and intellectual property standards;
  • the role of academic integrity in ensuring the quality of higher education.

During the lectures, special attention was paid to familiarizing higher education applicants with the main provisions of the Code of Academic Integrity of the KNUTD . Students were informed about the key principles of the document, which is an important guideline in forming a culture of mutual respect, responsible learning, and scientific ethics at the university.

During the interactive discussion, participants shared their own experiences and developments in the field of supporting ethical standards in educational, scientific, and administrative activities.

During the lectures, the head of the Center for Academic Integrity, Lidiia MAKARENKO, emphasized that adherence to the principles of academic integrity is not only a legal norm, but also a key factor in building trust in educational results, the professional image of the university, and the development of a democratic society.

The lectures became an important stage in the consistent work of KNUTD on forming a culture of quality education and establishing the principles of integrity. The event contributed to increasing the level of legal and ethical awareness of higher education students and teachers, strengthening partnership between all participants in the educational process.

The university will continue to implement systematic measures to popularize academic values, ensure transparency of the educational environment, and maintain high standards of honesty, responsibility, and professional dignity - as integral components of the image of KNUTD in the national and international educational space.
