STUDENTS OF THE EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMME “ENGLISH LANGUAGE: TRANSLATION IN BUSINESS COMMUNICATION” GAIN PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

The academic and teaching staff of the Department of Philology and Translation at Kyiv National University of Technologies and Design actively cooperate with stakeholders from the business environment. This collaboration enables students of the first (bachelor’s) level of the educational programme “English Language: Translation in Business Communication” (specialty Philology) to engage with the modern international business community, gain valuable professional experience, and develop as future competitive specialists.

The Ukrainian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (UCCI) plays a key role in promoting Ukrainian business that is in demand on the global market. The UCCI has been a long-standing partner of the Department of Philology and Translation. Representatives of the Chamber participate in the department’s career-oriented events and in the monitoring of the “English Language: Translation in Business Communication” programme, provide students with opportunities for professional (translation) internships, and kindly invite our future translators to take part in UCCI events to gain firsthand experience in their future profession.

In September 2025, at the invitation of Anna Liubyma, Director of International Cooperation at the Ukrainian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, first- to fourth-year students – Sofiya Avramenko, Anna Konovaliuk, Kateryna Alyoshyna, Maryana Haiduk, Oleksandra Unhurian, Ada Yakymova, Iryna Popova, Artem Franchuk, Anastasiia Halat, Liliia Antonets, Oryna Bertash, Anastasiia Yukhymenko, Viktoriia Serediuk, Kateryna Yevtushenko, Serhii Shyposh, Karina Kazaryan, Oleksandra Belienko, and Kateryna Hybalo – took part in several major informational events hosted by the UCCI: IV International Export Forum 2025: “Ukraine Goes Global”, Seminar on Czech Spa Treatment and Medical Tourism, Follow-up Event of the Ukraine Recovery Conference #URC2025.

On 24 September 2025, future philologists and translators joined the UCCI team in organising the Ukraine Goes Global forum – a strategic dialogue platform dedicated to enhancing Ukraine’s export potential and global market integration, with special focus on cooperation with the EU, Asia, and Canada. The event brought together representatives of the European Commission, Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH, Japan External Trade Organization, Japan International Cooperation Agency, Ukrainian and international government institutions, business associations, development projects, and entrepreneurs operating on global markets.

On 24 September 2025, the students also attended a specialised seminar on cooperation between Ukraine and the Czech Republic in the field of medical tourism and spa treatment, organised by the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Ukraine and the Czech National Tourism Board – CzechTourism, with the support of the UCCI.

On 30 September 2025, the students participated in the Follow-up Event of the Ukraine Recovery Conference #URC2025, organised by the UCCI in partnership with the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida), Helvetas Swiss Intercooperation, and the Tony Blair Institute for Global Change.

The meeting facilitated dialogue between Ukrainian businesses, international partners, and government bodies. Among its participants were representatives of diplomatic missions, ministries, state authorities, international organisations, and Ukrainian companies.

Throughout these events, KNUTD philology and translation students gained invaluable hands-on professional experience: they assisted in event organisation, observed the work of professional interpreters, communicated with international guests, and were inspired by teamwork within a large, dynamic, and successful professional community.

The Department of Philology and Translation of KNUTD sincerely thanks the Ukrainian Chamber of Commerce and Industry for their trust, fruitful cooperation, and invaluable opportunities for student development, and looks forward to continued partnership.
