As part of the Ukrainian Design and Innovation Week and Design Week at KNUTD on October 3, 2025, a lecture by Kateryna Chrichlow, a guest lecturer at Birmingham City University, designer, member of the Royal Society of Artists FRSA (UK), on the topic “ETHICAL USE OF ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE PROGRAMS IN DESIGN CREATIVITY” was held.
The lecture was attended by teachers and students of the Faculty of Design, educational programs "Graphic Design", "Multimedia Design", "Environmental Design", "Fashion Design", "Design (by type)" of Bachelor's and Master's levels, postgraduate students of the EP "Design", visitors of the Ukrainian Week of Design and Innovations, students and lecturers from Khmelnytskyi National University, Ivan Karpenko-Kary Kyiv National University of Theater, Cinema and Television, Odessa Technical Vocational College ONTU and other institutions of Ukraine. Kateryna Chrichlow spoke about the possibilities of modern artificial intelligence programs, which are currently used in such areas as fashion, multimedia, architecture, digital games, advertising, etc.
The main focus of the lecture was on practical aspects and examples of design product development, as well as the capabilities of artificial intelligence programs for creating and editing videos, text, images, etc.: lookfashion.ai, TheNewBlack, newarc.ai, Midjorney, DALL·E, Open AI, Rodin, HeyGen, SORA and others.
Ms. Kateryna said that with the growing popularity of AI, important ethical issues arise, in particular regarding plagiarism and authorship of created products. She also shared her experience of using AI programs in teaching subjects to design students at Birmingham City University.
The lecture aroused great interest among the visitors: not only students, but also teachers asked questions, and a meaningful scientific discussion arose.
