On October 8, 2025, students of the Faculty of Chemical and Biopharmaceutical Technologies of the Kyiv University of Technologies and Design, specialities G1 Chemical Technologies and Engineering (educational programs Chemical Technologies and Engineering, Innovative Pharmaceuticals) and G21 Biotechnology and Bioengineering (educational program Biotechnology), took part in a meaningful educational event — a lecture on "Legal and Ethical Foundations of Academic Integrity," organized by the Center for Monitoring the Quality of Educational Activities in conjunction with the dean's offices of the university's faculties, to deepen understanding of the importance of adhering to high standards of honesty and ethics in educational and scientific activities.
During the lecture given by Lidiia Makarenko, the head of the Center for Quality Management in Education, several key issues were discussed: the legal basis for maintaining academic integrity in accordance with the legislation of Ukraine; ethical principles of interaction between all participants in the educational process; typical manifestations of academic violations and mechanisms for their prevention; procedures for detecting academic plagiarism, compliance with copyright and intellectual property standards; the role of academic integrity in ensuring the quality of higher education.
Particular emphasis was placed on the importance of these principles for future specialists in the chemical and biopharmaceutical industries, which are areas where mistakes caused by dishonesty can have critical consequences for human health and safety. Students actively participated in the discussion, asking questions and sharing their thoughts on mechanisms for preventing dishonesty and the importance of fostering a culture of honesty in the university environment.
The holding of such events confirms that Kyiv University of Technology and Design pays considerable attention to the formation of highly qualified and ethically responsible specialists who are ready for the challenges of the modern scientific and professional community.
