On October 2-3, 2025, academic staff of Kyiv National University of Technologies and Design actively participated in the kick-off meeting of the international project 3DP-STeF “3D Printing for Sustainable Textile and Fashion Education”, which took place online at the Technical University of Crete (Chania, Greece).
The 3DP-STeF project, in which KNUTD is one of the partners, focuses on the use of 3D printing technologies to implement the principles of sustainable development into the educational programs of higher and pre-higher education institutions in the textile and fashion industries. KNUTD representatives joined discussions on the key aspects of project implementation and the academic structure of the Master’s degree program together with the University of Economics and Innovation (Lublin, Poland), the Technical University of Crete (Chania, Greece), the International Hellenic University (Thessaloniki, Greece), and Maynooth University (Ireland). Participation in this meeting confirms the active role of KNUTD in shaping the educational standards of the project.
Nataliia Pervaia, KNUTD project leader and Professor of the Department of Fashion Technology, presented the opportunities for project implementation through the resources available at the Faculty of Arts and Fashion – including training and research laboratories and the 3D4U Hub – Center for the Development of 3D Concepts in the Fashion Industry. Oleksii Volianyk, project executor, Head of the Department of Mechanical Engineering and expert of the National Agency for Higher Education Quality Assurance, reported on the specific features of educational program accreditation in Ukraine.

During the two-day session, academic staff of the Faculty of Arts and Fashion – Liliia Chertenko, Associate Professor of the Department of Fashion Technology, and Alla Rubanka, Associate Professor of the Department of Fashion and Style – delivered presentations on innovative technologies in the fashion industry (clothing, footwear), demonstrating expert evaluation of digital technologies in the fashion industry at KNUTD.

Over the course of two days, participants carried out a general project review and discussed its administrative organization. Considerable attention was paid to the work plan by work packages, the academic structure, and the European Qualifications Framework of the project. Participation in this EU-funded international initiative confirms KNUTD’s strategic commitment to integrating advanced technologies and principles of sustainable development into the training of professionals for the fashion industry.
