On October 3, 2025, Kyiv National University of Technologies and Design hosted the International Scientific and Practical Conference “Innovative Ecosystem for the Rebuilding of Ukraine: Integration of Science, Education and Business”, dedicated to the 95th anniversary of the University’s foundation.
The event was organized by the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, Kyiv National University of Technologies and Design, State Educational and Scientific Institution “Academy of Financial Management”, Ukrainian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Institute for Economics and Forecasting of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, Lviv Polytechnic National University, Kyiv National Economic University named after Vadym Hetman, V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University, Poltava Polytechnic Yuri Kondratyuk National University, University of Foggia (Italy), European Institute of Innovative Development (Ostrava, Czech Republic), Lavoslav Ružička Polytechnic in Vukovar (Croatia), University of Applied Sciences in Łomża, MANS (Poland), International Balkan University (Skopje, Republic of North Macedonia), Institute of Technology and Business in České Budějovice (Czech Republic), Warsaw University of Technology (Poland), Riga Northern University (Latvia), and the University of Barcelona (Spain).
The conference was also supported by Erasmus+ and Horizon Europe within the implementation of the following projects at Kyiv National University of Technologies and Design: Erasmus+ K2 ERASMUS-EDU-2021-VIRT-EXCH “International Network of Virtual Youth Business Hubs”, ERASMUS+ K2 SEAL-NR “Skills Enrichment for Adaptive Leadership in the New Reality”, ERASMUS-JMO-2023-MODULE “Promoting European Skills and Approaches to Sustainable Bioeconomy under Current Challenges in Ukraine” and Horizon Europe – IMPACT-Campus “Knowledge Valorization Hubs for Sustainable Entrepreneurship and Digital Transformation”.
More than 200 leading scientists and practitioners in the field of higher education and scientific research from various regions of Ukraine and abroad took part in the event.
The conference was moderated by Oleksandra Olshanska, Acting Rector of Kyiv National University of Technologies and Design, Doctor of Economics, Professor. In her opening remarks, she welcomed all participants and guests, expressing sincere gratitude to the distinguished speakers who found the opportunity to attend the conference and share their insights despite the challenging times for Ukraine.
In her speech, Dr. Olshanska focused on the importance of developing an innovative ecosystem as a key factor in Ukraine’s reconstruction, highlighting the integration of science, education, and business, the development of a startup culture in the university enviroment, the commercialization of scientific research and the training of a new generation of professionals capable of implementing innovative projects in the post-war recovery period.

With a warm greeting to the participants and guests of the conference, Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, Doctor of Economics, Professor Bohdan Danylyshyn, Head of the Department of Regional Studies and Tourism at Kyiv National Economic University named after Vadym Hetman, addressed the audience. In his speech, Professor Danylyshyn emphasized the importance of combining scientific potential, educational initiatives, and entrepreneurial activity to build an innovative ecosystem for Ukraine’s recovery. He underlined that collaboration between universities, business, and the state is essential for ensuring sustainable regional development and enhancing the competitiveness of the national economy. Special attention was paid to the need for business community support of student youth, as investing in talented students means investing in the future of Ukraine’s economy.

On behalf of the staff of the State Educational and Scientific Institution “Academy of Financial Management”, Tetiana Yefymenko, President of the Academy, Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, Doctor of Economics, Professor, and Honored Economist of Ukraine, addressed the participants of the conference. In her speech, Tetiana Ivanivna emphasized the leading role of science in ensuring the financial stability of the state during wartime, the need to establish an effective system for managing economic recovery, and the importance of strengthening public trust in state institutions. She highlighted the importance of partnership between science, business, and government in developing innovative mechanisms for financing post-war reconstruction, as well as the crucial role of educational institutions in training a new generation of professionals capable of working effectively in times of crisis and uncertainty.

The participants and guests of the event were also greeted by Mykhailo Nepran, First Vice President of the Ukrainian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, who emphasized the importance of partnership between educational institutions and business in shaping a modern system for training professionals. He noted that, in the context of post-war economic recovery, Ukraine needs young professionals capable of strategic thinking, implementing innovations, and communicating effectively at the international level. He drew special attention to the role of foreign language proficiency as a key competence that opens opportunities for students to participate in international projects, internships, and the integration of Ukraine into global economic processes.

Foreign colleagues participated in the international event online. In particular, the conference participants were welcomed by Dr. Ireneusz Żuchowski, Rector of the International Academy of Applied Sciences in Łomża (Poland), where university students are currently studying under an academic mobility program.

The participants were also greeted by Waldemar Gajda, President of the Warsaw School of Management – Higher School, and Dr. Barbara Lubas, Vice-Rector for International Cooperation. "Poland and Ukraine are close neighbors, united by shared values and a commitment to peace, democracy, and sustainable development. We are convinced that cooperation between our universities, as well as the exchange of experience in education, management, and innovation, will contribute to the professional growth of young people and the successful reconstruction of Ukraine. We strive to support Ukrainian students studying in Poland in their professional development, acquiring new knowledge, and feeling part of the European educational community. Together, we can achieve a great deal – for science, for youth, and for the future of Ukraine."

Dr. Alexander Buichik, Vice President for Science at the European Institute of Innovative Development and Director of the Science Division at Tuculart Holding, Czech Republic, addressed the conference participants with a greeting. In his presentation, "The Use of Artificial Intelligence in Science Journalism in the Digital Age," he focused on how artificial intelligence technologies are currently transforming science journalism – from collecting and processing information to content creation and fact-checking. He noted that, in the future, I could become a tool for enhancing the quality of scientific communication – assisting with data visualization, adapting complex materials for a broad audience, and translating content into different languages. At the same time, artificial intelligence does not replace journalists but becomes a powerful tool for more efficient, faster, and more reliable scientific communication.

Snizhana Bilyk, Advisor to the Rector of the International Balkan University in Skopje (Republic of North Macedonia), extended greetings to the conference participants. She spoke about the university’s international activities and projects implemented jointly with Ukrainian and European higher education institutions. In particular, she highlighted the collaboration with Kyiv National University of Technologies and Design on the IMPACT-Campus project, “Knowledge Valorization Centers for Sustainable Entrepreneurship and Digital Transformation” (Horizon Europe), as well as the ERASMUS+ KA2 project SEAL-NR, “Developing Adaptive Leadership Skills in the New Reality.”

Ivan Skorokhodov, Marketing Director of Fialan and Prizzi Sewing Machines, presented a report on the practical collaboration between science, education, and business in implementing the unique educational project, “School of Seamstresses.” He noted that the joint project of the University and “TC-Domashniy Textil,” carried out with the support of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), is an important initiative that fosters partnership and provides opportunities for participants to acquire new professional skills and knowledge. The project is particularly relevant, as the development of the light industry is one of Ukraine’s economic priorities during the war and in the post-war reconstruction period. It has gained tremendous popularity, with four graduating classes of seamstresses already completed within a few months of its launch, and new enrollments have begun.

Liana Maznyk, Associate Professor of the Department of Labor Economics and Management at the National University of Food Technologies, in her presentation, “Using Digital Technologies to Forecast Labor Demand in Ukraine’s Post-War Recovery,” focused on current trends in human resources data analytics. She noted that data analytics specialists are in demand not only in large technology companies such as Meta or Netflix but also in finance, healthcare, the public sector, non-profit organizations, startups, and international organizations.

Dr. Antonina Dyakona, Deputy Rector of Riga Northern University (Latvia), addressed the conference participants with greetings. She focused on pressing issues in the development of education and science in the context of digital transformation. Special attention was given to the role of international cooperation in shaping a modern educational environment and strengthening interaction between universities, businesses, and government institutions. Dr. Dyakona emphasized that only through the combination of efforts of scientists, educators, and entrepreneurs can an effective innovative ecosystem for the reconstruction of Ukraine be created.

Albert Palou Vilar, Head of Institutional Relations and Communications at the BETA Technological Center (UVIC-UCC), University of Barcelona, Spain, emphasized in his welcoming remarks that the importance of this conference lies in fostering cooperation between education, scientists, and business, which will contribute to sustainable economic development. He noted that international integration, including participation in joint projects, will help the Ukrainian ecosystem reach European standards.

During the platform sessions, the following presentations were delivered: Pavlo Shevchuk (Kyiv National University of Technologies and Design) on “Zero-Coding as a Tool to Accelerate the Implementation of Digital Marketing for Enterprises During Digital Transformation”, Alla Shapovalova, PhD in Political Science, Associate Professor (Kyiv National University of Technologies and Design) on “Regional Policy for Ukraine’s Reconstruction: Challenges Through the Lens of Public Communication Sociology”, Nataliya Buhas, PhD in Economics, Associate Professor (Kyiv National University of Technologies and Design) on “Online Collaboration for Developing Leadership and Team Thinking in Students”, Svitlana Nevmerzhytska, PhD in Economics, Associate Professor (Kyiv National University of Technologies and Design) on “Innovative Educational Practices as a Means of Developing Leadership Among Youth”, Volodymyr Hrachov (State Academy of Financial Management) on “Risk Management in the International Procurement System”, Oleh Khukhra (Kyiv National University of Technologies and Design) on “Digital Innovations as Drivers of Efficient Management in Integrated Business Structures”, Oleksandr Pokalchuk (Kyiv National University of Technologies and Design) on “The Insurance Business Ecosystem as a Tool for Ukraine’s Post-War Economic Reconstruction”, Maksym Halstyan (Kyiv National University of Technologies and Design) on “EDTECH in Marketing: New Opportunities for Developing Digital Competencies of Specialists”.
