PARTICIPATION OF LECTURERS AND POSTGRADUATE STUDENTS OF THE FACULTY OF DESIGN IN THE ELIA INTERNATIONAL WEBINAR ON THE DEVELOPMENT OF ART EDUCATION IN THE WORLD

Kyiv National University of Technologies and Design (KNUTD) is a member of ELIA (The European League of Institutes of the Arts) - one of the world’s largest networks of higher arts education institutions that brings together leading universities across Europe and beyond, specializing in art, design, music, theatre, architecture, and others industries.

On 10 October 2025 as part of ELIA’s activities, lecturers and postgraduate students of the Faculty of Design of KNUTD took part in the international webinar “STRENGTHENING ARTS IN GLOBAL EDUCATION”, dedicated to enhancing the role of the arts in education and exploring global educational strategies.

The keynote speaker of the event was Dr. Heddy Lahmann, Professor and Deputy Program Director of International Education at New York University (NYU).

Representing KNUTD at the event were:  Kalyna Pashkevych, Dean of the Faculty of Design, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor;  Nataliia Chuprina, Head of the Department of Art and Fashion Design, Doctor of Arts, Professor; Liliia Zhuravel-Zmieieva, Head of the Department of Graphic Design, PhD; Olha Yezhova, Professor at the Department of Graphic Design, Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences; Liudmyla Melnyk, Associate Professor at the Department of Art and Fashion Design, PhD in Technical Sciences; Nadiia Liuklian, Anastasiia Yukhimchuk, postgraduate students at the Department of Art and Fashion Design, as well as other lecturers and postgraduate students of the Faculty of Design.

Participants of the webinar had the opportunity to explore recent examples of integrating arts education into public education systems across various countries, discuss key barriers, national initiatives, educational models, as well as current advocacy strategies and policy debates shaping the global agenda in arts education.

Such events help KNUTD lecturers stay at the forefront of international educational processes, exchange professional experience, and implement the best global practices in the Ukrainian system of arts education.

KNUTD continues to strengthen its cooperation within ELIA, supporting innovative approaches to teaching art and design aimed at creating a modern, world-class educational environment.
