On October 16, students of the “Digital Art” Educational Programme of the Department of Digital Art, the Faculty of Culture and Creative Industries, KNUTD, together with lecturers Anastasiia Avula, Uliana Balan, and Hanna Voloshenko, visited the exhibition “Revived Universe”, dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the Restoration Workshop at the Lavra Museum of Cults and Household, which operates within the National Kyiv-Pechersk Historical and Cultural Preserve.

For the 2nd- and 3rd-year students, an informative guided tour was conducted by the staff of the Department of Scientific Restoration and Conservation, during which participants learned about the specifics of researching, restoring, and preserving museum objects of cultural heritage. The students observed the processes of restoration and conservation of icon painting, fine art, silverware, polychrome sculpture, garments, engravings, and books.

The exhibition features more than a hundred unique artworks from the 16th to 20th centuries, meticulously restored by professional artist-restorers. Among them are ancient Ukrainian icons, crosses, silver church utensils, liturgical textiles, and old prints. The exhibition not only showcases these restored artifacts but also highlights the complexity and responsibility of restoration work – illustrated through photographic materials that reveal the stages of the restoration process.

This visit provided a valuable opportunity for future specialists in digital art to deepen their knowledge of restoration fundamentals, see original works of Ukrainian and Western European art from the 17th–19th centuries, and realize the importance of preserving cultural heritage.
