COMBINING THEORY AND PRACTICE: EDUCATIONAL AND COGNITIVE EXCURSION TO THE PUSHCHA-VODYTSIA RESORT

On October 20, third-year students from the educational programs “Hotel and Restaurant Business” and “Tourism” in the Department of Tourism and Hotel and Restaurant Business participated in an educational and cognitive excursion to the historical area and climatic resort of Pushcha-Vodytsia as part of their studies in the course “Resort Studies.”

Under the guidance of Associate Professor Larysa Semeniuk, the group’s supervisor, students learned about the history of the resort’s development, its current state, and the prospects for advancing its sanatorium and resort infrastructure. Participants also explored the use of natural therapeutic resources and climatotherapy methods applied for treatment, medical rehabilitation, and disease prevention.

Such field-based classes play an important educational role, as they help students develop practical skills and professional competencies essential for their future careers in tourism and hospitality. They deepen students’ understanding of resort management, the recreational use of natural resources, and strengthen the connection between theory and practice in the field.

A pleasant conclusion to the excursion was a ride along Ukraine’s most scenic tram route and a walk through the picturesque autumn park of Pushcha-Vodytsia.

Conducting such field classes is an essential element of practice-oriented learning, enabling students to combine theoretical knowledge with real-world experience of how resort and recreational facilities operate. These activities foster professional thinking, enhance learning motivation, and shape a modern vision of future careers in the tourism and hospitality industries.
