XIV INTERNATIONAL SCIENTIFIC AND PRACTICAL CONFERENCE “ENERGY EFFICIENT UNIVERSITY”

On October 23, 2025, the XIV International Scientific and Practical Conference “Energy Efficient University”, dedicated to the 95th anniversary of the University’s founding, took place at Kyiv National University of Technologies and Design (KNUTD).

The conference was organized by Kyiv National University of Technologies and Design and the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine with the support of the Ministry for Development of Communities and Territories of Ukraine, the State Agency on Energy Efficiency and Energy Saving of Ukraine (SAEE), the Ukrainian National Committee of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC Ukraine), the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ), the Ukrainian League of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs (ULIE), and the Public Organization “Association of Energy Auditors of Ukraine”.

The conference is traditionally a platform for exchanging experience and ideas on the development and implementation of innovative energy-saving projects between representatives of government, educational institutions, domestic and international organizations, foundations, scholars, and experts from various countries.

This year’s meeting gained particular significance due to the war, which daily causes large-scale destruction of Ukraine’s energy infrastructure. Over a hundred representatives from institutions and companies in Ukraine and seven countries participated in the conference: the Federal Republic of Germany, the Republic of Turkey, the Republic of Poland, the Slovak Republic, the Republic of Latvia, the Republic of Azerbaijan, and the Republic of Iraq.

The plenary session was opened by the Acting Rector of KNUTD, Oleksandra Olshanska, who welcomed the participants and wished them productive work.

Ihor Panasiuk, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technologies, moderated the conference and introduced the members of the presidium.

A welcome address was delivered by Oleh Syniuk, Vice-Rector for Research at Khmelnytskyi National University. Participants were also greeted by Serhii Prokhorov, First Vice-President of the Ukrainian League of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs. Oleksandr Kollarov, Head of the Electrical Engineering Department at Donetsk National Technical University, emphasized the importance of holding the conference and its practical focus.

Among the foreign guests, Jürgen Raizner, Director of the Steinbeis Transfer Center (Steinbeis-Danube Center, Germany), presented a report on the topic “Building Energy Efficiency. Steinbeis Experience”.

During the plenary session, the following speakers presented their scientific reports:

  • Volodymyr Kovtunets, Leading Researcher at the Institute of Higher Education of the National Academy of Educational Sciences of Ukraine – “State Regulation of Professional Qualifications in Energy Efficiency: A Model for Regulating Professions in the Context of Ukraine’s EU Accession”;
  • Oleksii Korchmit, PhD in Public Administration, UNDP expert – “Energy Service in Critical Infrastructure: Green Energy and Energy Efficiency Management with Private Investment Involvement”;
  • Vadym Lytvyn, Head of the Board of the Association of Energy Auditors of Ukraine – “Optimizing the Operation of Rooftop Hybrid Solar Power Plants in Residential and Public Buildings in Electricity Market Conditions”;
  • Anatoliy Machulko, General Director of HEPHAESTUS UKRAINE LLC – “The Ecocolt TM System – An External Active Insulation System for Building Heating and Cooling”;
  • Inna Melkonova, PhD (Eng), Associate Professor, Head of the Electrical Engineering Department at Volodymyr Dahl East Ukrainian National University – “Experience in Implementing an International Project to Enhance Energy Efficiency in the University Environment”;
  • Andriy Minailov, Key Account Manager at CBS, Grundfos Ukraine – “Pumping Equipment as a Tool for Building Energy Optimization”;
  • Oleh Lysak, PhD (Eng), Researcher at the Institute of Renewable Energy of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine – “Using the Aladdin Online Platform to Acquire Practical Skills in Building Energy Efficiency Modeling and Solar Energy Analysis”.

The interesting and insightful reports sparked active discussions and an exchange of practical experience. At a time when the enemy is trying to destroy Ukraine’s energy infrastructure, such meetings gain special significance – as the joint efforts of scientists, engineers, and managers strengthen the state's energy resilience by passing on experience to the younger generation.

Following the plenary session, there was a presentation of graphic works by student finalists of the “Save ENERGY-2025” (https://youtu.be/3Rkr9yPb7Kw?si=Wy0rfLyr2Iy06gtD ) poster competition and an award ceremony for the winners. This competition traditionally accompanies the conference, adding creative inspiration and vibrant energy.

The final stage was the session on thematic platforms, during which representatives of educational and scientific institutions, government and public organizations, manufacturing enterprises, and companies presented their reports.

The Organizing Committee sincerely thanks everyone who participated in the conference and contributed to its successful and meaningful work.

We look forward to meeting you next year!
