On 27 October 2025, the grand opening of the Smart Studio educational and research laboratory took place at the Department of Economics of the Kyiv National University of Technologies and Design.

The Smart Studio educational and research laboratory was created to support smart ideas in the field of international, economic and managerial activities in the context of digitalisation and sustainable development, the implementation of scientific tasks and educational activities. The laboratory will assist in research, scientific and methodological and educational work, as well as in the training of postgraduate and doctoral students of the Department of Economics.

The Smart Studio educational and research laboratory will facilitate research on current issues of digitalisation, smart specialisation, and corporate economics and management at the international and national levels; on the strategic development of innovative IT clusters in the context of digitalisation; the implementation of digital technologies in the Ukrainian economy in the context of sustainable development; ensuring the fulfilment of tasks within the framework of budgetary scientific topics, international programmes and projects; organising and conducting conferences, training sessions, seminars, round tables, meetings with stakeholders of the Department of Economics; implementing international educational and scientific projects.

Acting Rector of the University Oleksandra OLSHANSKA delivered a welcoming speech, emphasising the unity of the department's staff, which is the best example for the implementation of any projects.

All those present were greeted by Tetiana VLASІUK, Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Management, Candidate of Economic Sciences, Associate Professor, who emphasised the importance of opening the Smart Studio educational and scientific laboratory, where students will be able to conduct practical classes, seminars, training sessions and workshops using innovative teaching technologies.

The opening of the Smart Studio educational and research laboratory at the Department of Economics is a step taken by the University towards combining intellectual, material, technical and financial resources for the high-quality and timely completion of scientific research by higher education students in the era of digitalisation and sustainable development.
