ACADEMIC INTEGRITY AS THE BASIS FOR FORMING THE ETHICAL CULTURE OF A SCIENTIST

On October 29, 2025, at the Kyiv National University of Technologies and Design, the Center for Quality Management of Educational Activities (head - Ph.D. Lydia MAKARENKO) together with the International Institute of Postgraduate and Doctoral Studies (head - Ph.D. , Associate Professor Svitlana ARABULI) held a lecture for graduate students on the topic "Legal and Ethical Principles of Academic Integrity."

Postgraduate students of all educational and scientific programs took part in the event, namely: Professional Education ; Design ; Cultural Studies ; Economics ; Finance, Banking and Insurance ; Management ; Marketing; Entrepreneurship, Trade and Stock Exchange Activities; Law; Computer Science; Chemical Technology and Engineering ; Light Technology industry ; Industrial pharmacy; Industrial mechanical engineering; Electric power engineering, electrical engineering and electromechanics .

The goal of the event was to increase the level of legal, ethical and academic culture of participants in the educational process, to form a conscious attitude towards observing the principles of honesty, transparency, responsibility and mutual respect in scientific and educational activities.

Particular attention was paid to familiarizing postgraduate students with the provisions of the Code of Academic Integrity of the KNUTD, which defines the basic principles of ethical behavior in the university environment.

In her report, the head of the Central Academic and Academic Center for Academic and Academic Integrity, Lidia MAKARENKO, emphasized that adherence to the principles of academic integrity is not only a legislative norm, but also an integral part of building trust in educational results, the professional image of the university, and the development of a democratic society.

The lecture was attended by the director of the Scientific and Technical Library of KNUTD, candidate of political sciences, associate professor Tetyana BUKOROS, and the head of the information and bibliographic department Oleksandra CHEPILKO.

In her speech, Ms. Tetyana BUKOROS introduced the postgraduate students to the library's activities, user services, features of using electronic scientific resources, policy, principles and concepts of open science, and revealed the role of digital identifiers of the author ( Orcid ) and publications (DOI), social networks of researchers ( Research Gate , etc.), databases ( Google Scholar, etc. ).

The meeting focused on the norms of the "Regulations on the Prevention and Detection of Academic Plagiarism in Scientific Papers at the Kyiv National University of Technology and Design" and the procedure for checking scientific papers for signs of academic plagiarism using the StrikePlagiarism software product .

Ms. Oleksandra CHEPILKO focused in detail on the issues of correct citation of sources, the design of bibliographic references, and the features of using artificial intelligence in scientific research.

During the interactive discussion, the participants of the event shared their own experiences and practical experiences in maintaining high ethical standards in educational, scientific, and administrative activities.

The event became another step in implementing the university's policy on establishing academic culture, preventing academic plagiarism, and ensuring high quality higher education in accordance with the requirements of the internal system of quality assurance of educational activities of KNUTD and the requirements of the time.
