“KNUTD WINDOWS”: CREATIVE SKETCHING SESSION DEDICATED TO THE 95TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE UNIVERSITY“

In honor of the 95th anniversary of Kyiv National University of Technologies and Design, a sketching session was held by the scientific and creative “Sketching Club” under the guidance of Svitlana Pashukova and Ulyana Balan, lecturers at the Department of Digital Art, Faculty of Culture and Creative Industries. The event – “KNUTD WINDOWS: a visual space for exploring compositional solutions” – brought together students of the Digital Art, Graphic Design, and Multimedia Design programs, who used graphic techniques to explore the architecture, spatial environment, and their personal perception of their alma mater.

During the sketching session, participants chose different locations and angles at the University, observing how the windows opened up views of courtyards, academic buildings, green areas, and architectural details, art objects that form the unique atmosphere of university life. Students created sketches using their own techniques – from concise graphic sketches to expressive colour compositions. Pencil, ink, watercolour or marker – each material became a means of visual exploration, a way to convey not only form, but also mood, light and the breath of space.

The windows of the University became a metaphor for openness – to knowledge, to art, to the world. Each glance through them offered an opportunity to see not only the surrounding space, but also one’s own professional growth and creative path.

The sketching session demonstrated that observation, experimentation, and freedom of expression are essential components of contemporary art education. This format encourages students to creatively reflect on their own university experiences, fostering personal growth, inspiring self-expression, and providing opportunities to learn, create, and dream.

With sincere gratitude to the University, which opens a world of opportunities – a place where everyone can unlock their potential, learn to appreciate beauty, think visually, and confidently pursue professional growth.
