WORKING MEETING BETWEEN THE KNUTD DEPARTMENT OF PROFESSIONAL EDUCATION IN TECHNOLOGY AND DESIGN AND THE IVAN ZIAZIUN INSTITUTE OF PEDAGOGICAL AND ADULT EDUCATION OF THE NATIONAL ACADEMY OF PEDAGOGICAL SCIENCES OF UKRAINE

At the end of September 2025, representatives of the Department of Professional Education in Technology and Design at Kyiv National University of Technology and Design (headed by Professor Alla Semenova) visited the Ivan Ziaziun Institute of Pedagogical and Adult Education of the National Academy of Pedagogical Sciences of Ukraine.

The meeting was held in an atmosphere of openness and professional mutual respect. It included a tour of the museum room dedicated to Academician Ivan Ziaziun and a working discussion on possible directions for further cooperation between the institutions.

Professor Oleksandr Lavrinenko conducted a guided tour, during which participants had the opportunity to engage with the spiritual and scientific heritage of an outstanding humanist, educator, and philosopher of education, whose ideas remain highly relevant to contemporary pedagogy.

The museum serves as a space for preserving and promoting the scientific and pedagogical heritage of Ivan Andriyovych Ziaziun. It was established on the initiative of Academician Larisa Lukyanova, Academician Nelly Nychkalo, and Professor Oleksandr Lavrinenko, with the support of Volodymyr Balakin, PhD and Associate Professor.

Following the tour, a working meeting was held with representatives of two leading departments of the Institute – the Department of Content and Technologies of Pedagogical Education (headed by Professor Myroslava Vovk) and the Department of Theory and Practice of Pedagogical Education (headed by Professor Larysa Petrenko).

The purpose of the meeting was to translate the provisions of the Cooperation Agreement into concrete actions in the areas of teacher training, joint research, and the use of educational resources.

During the discussion, participants addressed issues related to the training of master students majoring in “Professional Education”, particularly the coordination of thesis topics, the involvement of the Institute’s scholars in the review and defense of theses, and the possibility of joint teaching of pedagogical courses.

Special attention was given to the use of the Institute’s library collection (headed by Maryna Holovchenko) as an open educational resource for KNUTD students, master’s candidates, and doctoral researchers, which will contribute to the development of their research competencies.

Key agreements of the meeting:

  • Academic mobility mechanisms have been agreed upon – mutual guest lectures, consultations, and short-term internships for teachers and third-level education seekers.
  • Thematic mini-cycles have been designed for students, with an emphasis on pedagogical design, the integration of technology and design in teacher training, and modern methods of adult education.
  • Areas for joint comparative pedagogical and applied research have been identified, with the results to be presented in professional publications and at scientific events.
  • Agreement on the use of the library fund and museum room exhibition as an educational and scientific base for students and young researchers.

Further steps in cooperation:

  • formation of a joint calendar of guest lectures and internships;
  • determination of coordinators and procedures for the recognition of mobility results;
  • creation of working groups on priority research topics.

The Department of Professional Education in Technology and Design at KNUTD sincerely thanks its colleagues at the Ivan Ziaziun Institute of Pedagogical and Adult Education of the National Academy of Pedagogical Sciences of Ukraine for their warm welcome, openness, professional support and inspiration for joint action.

We were delighted to spend this day among like-minded people united by a common goal – the development of pedagogical education, the preservation of humanistic values and the formation of a new generation of creative teachers and researchers.
