On 31 October 2025, the Department of Economics at Kyiv National University of Technologies and Design held a round table discussion on the theme of «The New Economy and Smart Specialisation of Ukraine’s Regions» under the slogan «Halloween Smart Specialisation in Pumpkin Muffin Production» to mark Economist Day, which was combined with Halloween celebrations.

The star of the show was a 12 kg pumpkin with 692 seeds.

Students of the Department of Economics, together with the department's teachers, took part in a quest called «Halloween Smart Specialisation in Pumpkin Muffin Production». The students tried their hand at being young baker-economists and made delicious pumpkin muffins, calculating their cost price.

We also did not ignore the calculation of the cost of production of pumpkin muffins. We would like to thank Zoryna SHATSKA, Doctor of Economics, Professor, Professor of the Department of Economics, and Mark LEBEDEV, Doctor of Philosophy in Economics, Senior Lecturer of the Department of Economics, for their detailed calculation, together with students, of the cost of Halloween pumpkin muffins.
