Education, science, creativity and recreation – these were the themes of October for students of the Faculty of Chemical and Biopharmaceutical Technologies.
On 1 October 2025, first-year students of the Department of Biotechnology, Leather and Fur, majoring in G21 Biotechnology and Bioengineering, had an excellent opportunity to visit the National Scientific Medical Library of Ukraine, where they got acquainted with unique collections, modern scientific publications and the history of the development of medical science in our country. After that, a cultural part awaited them — the National Museum' Kyiv Art Gallery', where students were able to immerse themselves in the world of Ukrainian and European art, touching real masterpieces of painting. Such events not only broaden the horizons of future biotechnologists but also inspire further development by combining science and culture.

On 9 October 2025, a foreign specialist delivered an open lecture to third-year students of the Department of Biotechnology, Leather and Fur, majoring in G21 Biotechnology and Bioengineering, on the subject of 'General Microbiology and Virology'. The lecture was given by Max Rümenapf, a young scientist from the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) Engler-Bunte Institute of Water Chemistry and Water Technology (Germany). The lecture addressed the properties of biofilms and their potential for engineering, and the lecturer shared his experience in obtaining and researching biofilms.
The lecture was interdisciplinary. The students of the Department of Chemical Technologies and Resource Saving, 3rd year, majoring in G1 Chemical Technologies and Engineering, highly appreciated the experiment by German scientists using certain types of bacteria to create electrochemical cells for energy production.

On 9 October 2025, fourth-year students of the educational-professional program Industrial Pharmacy took a professionally oriented excursion to PJSC Pharmaceutical Company Darnytsia. The excursion was led by teaching staff of the Department of Industrial Pharmacy: Olena Ishchenko, Galina Kuzmina, and Olena Roik.
As part of this event, the students visited the pharmaceutical development department, where the key stages of creating modern medicines take place.
In the analytical laboratory, students and teachers were introduced to a wide range of high-precision equipment used for the physical and chemical research of active pharmaceutical ingredients and medicines. Among the devices demonstrated were a unique IR microscope, equipment for thermogravimetric analysis and differential scanning calorimetry, gas and high-performance liquid chromatographs, etc.
In addition, the visitors toured a technology laboratory where experimental developments of modern medicines are carried out, as well as a laboratory specialising in the study of impurities in packaging materials.

On 9 October 2025, the Department of Chemical Technologies and Resource Saving, under the supervision of first-year curator Olena Kryukova, held a thematic event entitled 'My Native Land' to explore students' native places, their history, cultural heritage, and contemporary development. The main goal of the event was to foster in students a love for their small homeland, an awareness of the importance of preserving national traditions and cultural values, and to encourage them to study the history of their native land. Participants had the opportunity to share their knowledge and impressions of their native places, their history, prominent people, and cultural monuments.

On 15 October 2005, students of the Department of Chemical Technology and Resource Saving of the educational-professional program Chemical Technology and Engineering and Environmental Engineering, together with teachers Viktoriia Plavan and Olena Kryukova, visited the Kyiv City House of Nature as part of the celebration of Ukrainian Climate Week, which took place this year from 6 to 12 October. An interactive lecture on the causes, consequences and primary ways to overcome climate change on the planet was timed to coincide with this event.
The pearl of the House of Nature is a real underwater world! It is home to Ukraine's most extensive open collection of tropical aquarium fish and freshwater plants, offering a unique opportunity to immerse yourself in the biodiversity of aquatic ecosystems.

On 16 October 2025, students of the Department of Chemical Technologies and Resource Saving, together with curators Olena Kryukova and Iryna Liashok, visited a collective exhibition of paintings by teachers of the Faculty of Design of KNUTD, 'COLOURS OF ART', at the KNUTD Exhibition Centre, Art Space. The project' COLOURS OF ART' demonstrates not only the high level of artistic skill of the teachers, but also their versatility and individual creative pursuits. The variety of themes – from deep landscapes to abstract compositions – allows each visitor to find a work that resonates with their own experiences and vision of the world.

On 17 October 2025, the Department of Industrial Pharmacy hosted a poster exhibition of student works as part of the elective course 'Medicinal Plants in Human Health Care' for higher education students. The event was organised by the course instructors, Olga Nikitina and Ilya Resnytsky. The discipline is very popular among higher education students of various educational programmes at KNUTD. It is chosen not only by students of the Faculty of Chemical and Biopharmaceutical Technologies, but also, in particular, by design students, who traditionally take a creative approach to completing their academic assignments. Their poster works have become an example of a successful combination of educational material and artistic presentation. In their projects, students presented original illustrations, thorough botanical descriptions, examples of the modern use of plants for medicinal purposes, historical information, folk legends and interesting facts. At the end of the exhibition, all participants received themed, valuable gifts from the event organisers for their participation, diligence, and creative approach to the educational task.

On 31 October 2025, while autumn chill reigned outside the window, not only were chemical reactions raging within the walls of the Faculty of Chemical and Biopharmaceutical Technologies, but also real Halloween fun! First-year students of the faculty celebrated the mystical holiday of Halloween, as it is an excellent opportunity to 'reboot' their minds after intense lectures and laboratory work.
Students -chemists are not only good at calculating moles and valences, but also at fantasising and having fun together. The themed costumes reflecting the faculty's specialisation attracted particular attention. In the corridors, one could meet 'zombie lab assistants', 'mutants from a test tube,' and elegant 'vampire chemists.' The Halloween celebration at the faculty was vivid proof that student life is a harmonious combination of study, science and creative leisure. Such events strengthen team spirit and provide unforgettable emotions.

The October calendar of events vividly demonstrated the diversity of student life, inspiring students of the Faculty of Chemical and Biopharmaceutical Technologies with renewed strength and enthusiasm to meet the challenges and opportunities that await them!
