THE FUTURE OF UKRAINE IS NURTURED AT KNUTD: CAREER GUIDANCE FOR YOUNG PEOPLE IN THE TERNOPIL REGION

On 3-4 November 2025, as part of a large-scale career guidance initiative, lecturers from the Department of Fashion Technology at Kyiv National University of Technologies and Design held meetings with final-year students in Ternopil. The purpose of the trip was to show young people the opportunities offered by modern education, talk about the prospects for specialists in light industry, and support students’ aspirations for professional self-determination in Ukraine. The university delegation was led by Olha Haranina, Head of the Department, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor. The team included Nataliia Pervaia, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor; PhDs, Associate Professors: Oksana Vodzinska and Antonina Babych, as well as Larysa Rzhavicheva, Head of the Department Laboratories – experienced teachers, scientists and mentors of a new generation of technologists and designers.

The lecturers visited Ternopil Secondary Schools № 18 and № 26, where they met with students, teaching staff and school administrators. In a warm and inspiring atmosphere, career guidance lectures were held, during which students were given a unique presentation on the role and importance of light industry for the development of the Ukrainian economy.

Special attention was paid to enterprises in the Ternopil region that operate, develop and support the economic stability of the region even in difficult times of war: the knitwear factories “Berezhany-Trikotazh”, “Ternopil-Trikotazh”, “Kopychynska Knitwear Factory”; the footwear manufacturers “DemboHouse” and “Vinitex”; and the garment manufacturers “Galia”, “Nadiya”, “Borenia”, “Svitanok”, “TekhnoTex”, “Segment-Tex”, and others.

During the meetings, KNUTD lecturers emphasised that light industry is a strategic component of Ukraine’s post-war economic recovery, as it provides thousands of jobs, creates competitive products and establishes the Ukrainian brand in the world. To achieve this, the country needs creative, educated and patriotic specialists who are ready to develop their own state.

The presentation also covered the 95-year history of Kyiv National University of Technologies and Design, one of Ukraine’s most prestigious higher education institutions, which combines tradition and innovation and trains nationally conscious, creative and talented specialists for all sectors of light industry.

The students listened to the lecturers with great interest, actively asking questions about admission requirements, educational programmes, internships at companies, and career growth opportunities. For most of them, this meeting was their first encounter with the University, which is a symbol of Ukrainian education, style, innovation, and sustainability.

School principals were presented with a commemorative edition dedicated to the 95th anniversary of KNUTD as a symbol of respect, partnership and gratitude for their shared mission – educating the young generation of creators and patriots of Ukraine. Such career guidance events are an important part of KNUTD’s educational mission, aimed at developing Ukrainian human resources, restoring the manufacturing sector and raising the prestige of labour.

The youth of Ternopil region have demonstrated that the future of our country belongs to those who believe in themselves, believe in our victory, sincerely love their native Ukraine, and strive to develop it together with KNUTD!
