On November 14, 2025, Kalyna Pashkevych, Dean of the Faculty of Design of the Lviv National Academy of Arts, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor, at the invitation of Vasyl Kosiv, Rector of the Lviv National Academy of Arts, Doctor of Art History, Professor, took part in the discussion "Development of new standards of higher education: what changes can be expected in art education?" within the framework of the International Conference "ART RESEARCH AND ART AS RESEARCH".

The focus of the panel discussion was the formation of new standards of higher education in art specialties (B2, B3, B4) in Ukraine and the coordination of regulatory requirements with the real needs of the educational process.

The moderator of the conference platform was Taras Lesiv, Vice-Rector for Scientific and Pedagogical Work of the LNAM.

Participants of the discussion:

Mykhailo Bokotei, Head of the Department of Art Glass of the LNAM, Head of the Subcommittee on Specialty B3 “Decorative Arts and Crafts” of the National Committee of the Ministry of Education and Sciense of Ukraine;

Daryna Skrynnyk-Myska, Head of the Department of Current Art Practices of the LNAM, Head of the Subcommittee on Specialty B4 “Fine Arts and Restoration” of the National Committee of the Ministry of Education and Sciense of Ukraine;

Andriy Pochekva, Senior Lecturer of the I. Trush State University of Fine Arts, Member of the Subcommittee on Specialty B4 “Fine Arts and Restoration” of the National Committee of the Ministry of Education and Sciense of Ukraine.

The participants of the discussion discussed how the development and implementation of standards will affect the content and methods of teaching in art institutions, as well as the extent to which these documents at the current project stage correspond to international framework guidelines and trends in the European Higher Education Area.

Kalyna Pashkevych, as the head of the subcommittee for the specialty B2 "Design" of the National Committee of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, spoke during the discussion about the status of the development of a new standard for the specialty "Design", about the work of the subcommittee members, and about the next stages of developing the standard.

The discussion also covered the issue of unifying requirements, preserving academic autonomy, and updating standards, taking into account the specifics of artistic professions and the practical component of creative education.

Petro Nahirny, Vice-Rector of LNAM, in his speech emphasized the importance of forming new generation standards in which design is considered as a process.

The event was attended by about a hundred participants, including representatives of state authorities, rectors, vice-rectors and professors of higher art education institutions, scientists, teachers, postgraduate students, as well as representatives of professional communities and cultural institutions.
