TALENTED STUDENTS OF THE DEPARTMENT OF FASHION AND STYLE PROUDLY AND PROFESSIONALLY PRESENTED KNUTD AT FUTURE FRONT ROW

On November 20, Amsterdam became the center of the international Future Front Row event, which brought together 24 young designers and representatives from 11 leading universities and academies in Europe.

The festival’s program included a meeting and discussion among members of the university consortium regarding the implementation of the next tasks of the FashionTEX project. Kyiv National University of Technologies and Design was represented by the project team: Head of the Department of Fashion and Style Tetiana Struminska, Associate Professor of the Department of Fashion and Style Alla Rubanka, and talented students of the Department of Fashion and Style of the first (bachelor’s) and second (master’s) levels of higher education, enrolled in the educational program “Modeling, Design, and Artistic Decoration of Light Industry Products”. The students were Yevheniia Lazariv (Group MgShmk-24) and Anastasiia Stelmakh (Group BShmk-23).

Throughout the day, participants engaged in discussions, show preparation, technology demonstrations, and networking with partners and supporters, focusing on innovative materials, future-oriented design, and the role of digital tools in transforming the fashion industry.

In the evening, a screening took place at Fabrique des Lumières – the largest digital art center in the Netherlands, known for its immersive projection spaces where light, sound, and movement become part of the artistic experience. In this visually multidimensional atmosphere, contemporary fashion appeared as a synthesis of art, technology, and forward-looking design. The event was attended by more than 400 guests, including industry leaders, digital fashion creators, and students and graduates of fashion schools from across Europe.

Students Yevheniia Lazariv and Anastasiia Stelmakh represented KNUTD with dignity and presented a physical clothing model, an impressive 8-meter-high 3D model on stage, as well as a series of promotional videos and process-creation videos. The models were developed using 3D printing, laser cutting, digital textiles, VR/AR technologies, and generative 3D modeling. Hundreds of projections on the walls of Fabrique des Lumières, together with a holographic show, transformed the catwalk into an interactive three-dimensional space where digital and physical elements blended harmoniously.

Anastasiia Stelmakh – “Samchykivka in a new dimension”

Traditional Ukrainian painting is reinterpreted in a modern decorative ornament. 3D printing and home-made bioplastics combine cultural heritage and innovation, creating a symbol of memory and national identity.

Yevheniia Lazariv – “Pulse”

The model explores the interaction of technology and nature, combining modular construction, denim, laser cutting and thermal transfer printing. The print resembles the structure of computer circuits that smoothly flow into organic forms, demonstrating a harmonious combination of innovation, functionality and environmental awareness.

The holographic visual effects for the event were designed by Amsterdam-based digital artist Isabel Udo is the founder of Future Front Row and a lecturer at the Amsterdam Fashion Academy. The show was part of the FashionTEX initiative, founded in 2024 to develop digital and sustainable competences among fashion students in Europe. While preparing physical and digital models, the students demonstrated how digital tools can expand the boundaries of fashion.

Event at Fabrique des Lumières proved that the fashion of the future is born at the intersection of light, technology and cultural heritage.

Thanks to its participation in the international FashionTEX project, KNUTD has the opportunity to demonstrate a high level of student training in the fashion industry and contribute to shaping a new fashion philosophy in Europe.
