From November 18 to 27, 2025, a working visit of KNUTD scientists to the Technical University of Dresden, Germany, took place as part of the joint Ukrainian-German research project "Digitalization of the advanced rehabilitation products development for people with special needs (after limb amputation)".
The Ukrainian team, consisting of the head of the research work, Ph.D., Assoc. Prof. Lyudmila MELNYK, and the project participants, D.Sc. (Econ.), Prof., Vice-Rector for Research and International Cooperation Liudmyla GANUSHCHAK-EFIMENKO, Ph.D., Assoc. Prof., Head of the International Institute of Postgraduate and Doctoral Studies Svitlana ARABULI, D.Sc. (Eng.), Prof. Olena KYZYMCHUK, worked fruitfully and mastered advanced technologies using modern research equipment of the Department of Development and Assembly of Textile Products of the Institute of Textile Machinery and High Performance Material Technology of TUD. The Institute is one of the world's leading educational and research centers with interdisciplinary research into technological chains for the production of innovative textile materials.

Members of the German team, consisting of the head of research work, Professor, Prof. Dr.-Ing. habil., Head of the Chair of Development and Assembly of Textile Products Yordan Kyosev, Dipl.-Wi.-Ing., Researcher Anselm Naake, Dipl.-Wi.-Ing., Researcher Niklas Schmidt, and researcher Natalia Sadtretdinova, introduced Ukrainian scientists to the working principle of the created software SliceTollApp. Joint discussions identified the shortcomings of SliceTollApp in order to improve the process of further measuring leg circumference at different levels; clarified ways to improve the stages of virtual design of a functional product taking into account the individual geometry of the amputated limb, and the possibility of further cooperation.

In a modern MOVE 4D body scanning laboratory, the Ukrainian team acquired practical skills in using the software available at the Dresden Technical University for processing scans to design a rehabilitation product.

The head of the department, Yordan Kyosev, introduced the members of the Ukrainian team to the modern software used at the Department of Development and Assembly of Textile Products, sewing laboratories, and the main achievements in the field of innovative developments of the department.

We are sincerely grateful to our German partners for the joint scientific dialogue and the opportunity to learn about modern trends in the development of textile science!
