The matchmaking event “Formula for success: science + business” successfully brought together over 40 Ukrainian researchers and business representatives at Lviv Polytechnic to promote cooperation between science and business and stimulate technology transfer.
The event was opened and speakers were introduced by Iryna Yaremchuk, Vice-Rector for Research and Innovation of Lviv
Polytechnic National University, who emphasized the relevance of this format of the event: “Although the matchmaking format has not yet become widespread in Ukraine, I am very glad that such events dedicated to an extremely important topic for the country, such as cooperation between science and business, are already being held in Ukraine.” In his opening remarks, Hryhoriy Mozolevych, Director General of the Directorate for Science Development of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, emphasized the importance of involving business in scientific innovations: “An important component of the effectiveness of state investments in the scientific sphere is the direct interest of business in scientific results and further research. Therefore, the participants of the event had the opportunity to establish cooperation to develop new projects.”
Olga Polotska, Executive Director of the National Research Foundation of Ukraine, noted that today, for national economic stability, it is important that in difficult times in Ukraine it is especially important to develop the economy through high technologies and the implementation of scientific developments in the real sector. “Today’s matchmaking event “Formula for Success: Science + Business” is organized to provide scientists with the opportunity to present their developments, find partners in the field of science and business, and assess the potential for implementing their ideas in practical activities. Such initiatives contribute to the formation of new projects and partnerships that support sustainable development and economic growth of Ukraine.”
From the Kyiv National University of Technologies and Design, the current model of interaction of the “knowledge triangle” was presented by the Vice-Rector for Scientific and International Cooperation Liudmyla Hanushchak-Yefimenko.
During the matchmaking event, the Vice-Rector analyzed practical cases for the companies “Main Business Part”, KU “Grant Office “Odesa 5T”, the Scientific Cluster “Science Parks of Ukraine”, IT company “LaSoft”, and the Lviv Agrarian Chamber.
The participants of the matchmaking event noted that direct contact between representatives of the scientific sector, business and technological teams opened up real opportunities for creating new partnerships.
During the event, the participants had the opportunity to establish professional connections and take part in interactive discussions of the needs, initiatives, skills and obstacles to cooperation between science and business in Ukraine, laying the foundation for future joint work.
