Capacity building for academic staff and PhD students of Kyiv National University of Technologies and Design (KNUTD) continues within the framework of the international educational project ERASMUS-EDU-2023-CBHE-STRAND-2 “3D Concepts for Fashion Education in Ukraine” (3D4U).
From 15 to 19 December 2025, as part of the project implementation, its participants – Nataliia Pervaia, Professor of the Department of Fashion Technology and KNUTD Project Coordinator; Oksana Vodzinska, Associate Professor of the Department of Fashion Technology; Maryna Yatsenko, Associate Professor of the Department of Costume Art and Design; and Daria Kaptiurova, PhD student of the Department of Fashion Technology – undertook a working visit to the International Hellenic University (Thessaloniki, Greece).

The activities were hosted by the Faculty of Creative Design and Clothing and were delivered in a blended format combining face-to-face training and hands-on practical sessions. The programme of the visit focused on developing professional capacity in the field of 3D technologies for the fashion industry, with particular emphasis on 3D CAD design and the integration of artificial intelligence tools into the garment creation process. The training sessions were conducted by Evridiki Papachristou, PhD, Associate Professor of the Department of Creative Design and Clothing and Coordinator of the 3D4U project. The programme provided participants with valuable insights into contemporary digital tools and innovative approaches to fashion education, contributing to the further modernisation of academic curricula at KNUTD.

During the week, the participants attended training modules covering basic and advanced 3D CAD garment prototyping, took part in practical classes in specialised CAD laboratories at the Kilkis and Thermi campuses, and completed self-study sessions using modern software tools. The programme also included a lecture presentation delivered by representatives of the International Hellenic University, focusing on current trends and innovations in the fashion industry.

Within the framework of the project implementation, the 7th Transnational Project Partners’ Meeting was held on 16 December 2025 in a hybrid format. The meeting focused on the results of the third work package, specifically the establishment of 3D Concept Centres at each Ukrainian partner university and the functioning of the Project Cloud Platform.
Nataliia Pervaia, KNUTD Project Coordinator, presented the opening of the 3D Concept Centre for the Fashion Industry (KNUTD 3D Hub) as a unique and innovative educational and technological space that integrates digital modelling, biomechanical analysis and additive manufacturing to create customised solutions in fashion, orthopaedics and design.
Liliia Chertenko, KNUTD Project Responsible Executor, reported on the development of the Project Cloud Platform, which included educational and methodological materials provided by European partner higher education institutions from Greece, Germany, and Romania.

During the visit to Greece, project participants also took part in an industrial visit to the Greek garment factory DMISS, which utilises laser cutting and fabric finishing technologies to produce unique items featuring mesh structures.

In addition, the project team visited the textile enterprise COLORA, specialising in textile finishing. A company representative introduced the visitors to the stages of dyeing and drying materials, print application processes, the operation of the fabric and knitted materials testing laboratory, as well as the company’s design department.

As a result of the training, the KNUTD 3D4U project team received certificates in capacity building for basic and advanced 3D fashion prototyping, specifically for products in the fashion industry.
We sincerely thank our colleagues from the International Hellenic University, a partner of the 3D4U project, for their warm welcome, friendly atmosphere and the opportunity to engage with innovative 3D design technologies for the fashion industry.
