On January 5, 2026, the Department of Applied Physics and Higher Mathematics, represented by the head of the department, Iryna Oleinikova, organized a round table to discuss the prospects for cooperation between representatives of various scientific organizations, technological and industrial enterprises interested in the development of the basalt industry. The discussion took place in a mixed format with the participation of the head of the Department of Aircraft Control Systems at the National Technical University of Ukraine “Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute,” Ph.D., senior researcher Serhii Ponomarenko, Director of Basalt Technologies Oleksandr Hnilitskyi, Director of INK International LTD Serhii Hoperskyi, and representatives of Geodar and Rafalovskyi Quarry, who joined remotely.

Yuriy and Bohdan Olkhovyi, who are engaged in the extraction and processing of basalt, expressed interest in expanding production to more high-tech products. They received comprehensive information about the features of technologies, costs, and development prospects. Since KNUTD has been researching basalt composites for several years, its representatives offered their services in researching the properties and quality control of basalt products at various stages of production.

It is hoped that this meeting will be the first step towards the creation of a consortium of scientists and industrialists for the development of the basalt industry.
