Kyiv National University of Technologies and Design once again became a participant in the international fashion festival "KYIV FASHION", which took place on January 28-30, 2026 at the International Exhibition Center in Kyiv.
For over 20 years, the exhibition has been the main event of the fashion industry of Ukraine, a meeting place for fashion professionals, very accurately reflecting current trends, as well as directions of development of design, fashion and textiles. KNUTD has been a participant of this significant event for many years in a row, maintains close partnership relations with the organizers of the International Fashion Festival "KYIV FASHION", demonstrates the achievements of teachers and students in the field of the fashion industry.
In her welcoming speech dedicated to the opening of the KNUTD stand at the exhibition "KYIV FASHION", the acting rector of KNUTD Oleksandra Olshanska, Doctor of Economics, Professor, welcomed the participants, honored guests and partners of the university. Oleksandra Olshanska outlined the main trends and prospects of the university's work and emphasized the consistently high level of training of specialists who, for many years, have been implementing design solutions and innovative approaches, maintaining the status of KNUTD as a leader in the fashion industry.
Oleksandra Olshanska reminded about the powerful bright business cards of the university, including the International Competition of for Young Designers "Pecherski Kashtany", the International Contest of One Image and New Year and Christmas Decor "Suzirya "Kashtan", the International Competition of Young Designers "Digital Fashion", the international scientific and practical conferences "KyivTex&Fashion", "Topical Issues of Modern Design", etc. She thanked the organizers of the International Fashion Festival "Kyiv Fashion" – an important platform for interaction between education, business and creative industries. "In 2025, KNUTD celebrated 95 years since its foundation, continuing the tradition of educating new names in the fashion industry and developing the creative potential of young talents. I thank the university staff, our partners and students for their joint work and inspiration! I wish the Kyiv Fashion Festival successful work, and all participants - new ideas and partnerships!" – Oleksandra Olshanska concluded.
The opening of the KNUTD exhibition stand was traditionally attended by Yana Cherniavska, director of the international fashion festival "Kyiv Fashion", Liudmyla Balashova, deputy director of LLC "TK-Furnitura", representatives of the Kyiv Professional College of Applied Sciences, the Association "Ukrlegprom", graduates of KNUTD. The exhibition participants were greeted by long-time friends and partners of KNUTD – fellow educators of Khmelnytskyi National University. Svitlana Kuleshova, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor, Head of the Department of Technology and Design of Garments of KhNU, noted a wide range of areas of cooperation between our universities and expressed hope for its strengthening and expansion in various areas of fashion and design.
In her speech, Nataliia Ostapenko, Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Fashion, noted that the international fashion festival "KYIV FASHION" is a powerful multi-year platform for demonstrating the technical, artistic and creative potential of the university's youth, exchanging experience, establishing new contacts, establishing trends and directions for the development of the fashion industry. Nataliia Ostapenko also emphasized that it is thanks to the efforts of many generations of highly qualified teachers of KNUTD that thousands of young specialists have been trained who worthily represent their Alma-mater in the field of fashion and design in Ukraine and the world.
З вітальними словами виступила Калина Пашкевич, декан факультету дизайну, яка підкреслила, що КНУТД – це всесвітньовідома школа мистецтв та дизайну, яка посідає високі місця у світових рейтингах, визнаний флагман з підготовки фахівців з дизайну, моделювання, конструювання, технологій одягу та виробів індустрії моди. «Випускники КНУТД, відомі українські дизайнери, підвищують імідж нашої країни в світі, популяризуючи національну культуру на світових показах мод, виставках, форумах та інших презентаційних майданчиках, отримуючи світове визнання і прославляючи нашу державу. Унікальні методики підготовки фахівців в КНУТД дають можливість отримати такі високі результати. За більш ніж тридцяти-річну історію кафедрою мистецтва та дизайну костюма КНУТД підготовлено понад 2 тис. фахівців у галузі дизайну одягу.» - розповіла Калина Лівіанівна.
The opening ceremony was attended by the university's scientific community and higher education students of KNUTD – Taliat Bielialov, Vice-Rector of KNUTD for Scientific and Pedagogical Activities and Educational Work, Nataliia Chuprina, Head of the Department of Art and Fashion Design, Tetiana Struminska, Head of the Department of Fashion and Style, Olha Haranina, Head of the Department of Fashion Technology, Olena Vasylieva, Head of the Department of Multimedia Design.
Marharyta Aftandiliants, Head of Marketing Communications Department of KNUTD, in her speech revealed the updated concept of the KNUTD exhibition stand for the best presentation of the University's achievements. This year, the stand's exposition featured creative collections of education seekers who worthily represented the university at Ukrainian Fashion Week and won prizes at international competitions of young designers, such as "Pecherski Kashtany", "Suzirya "Kashtan", etc. The collection of student Simon El Sabari is a story told in the language of fabrics, shapes and shadows; a journey through heat, dust and light, where each image becomes a trace of the path. The interpretation of another designer's work is reflected in the collection of Artem Puhach – a story about the different stages of the rebirth of an artist who has gone through an internal crisis and returns to life - from emptiness to a new meaning.
The exhibition was also attended by scientists and employees of the Faculty of Arts and Fashion and the Faculty of Design, namely, associate professors of the Department of Art and Fashion Design – Liudmyla Melnyk, Iryna Davydenko, Maryna Yatsenko, Olena Gerasymenko, professor of the Department of Fashion Technology Yana Redko, associate professors of the Department of Fashion and Style – Liliia Navolska, Halyna Oliynyk, Alla Rubanka, Yana Mamchenko, Tetiana Remenieva, assistant professor of the Department of Art and Fashion Design Anastasiia Yukhymchuk, director of the Student Center for Fashion and Creativity Nataliia Lesiuta and others.
