PARTICIPATION OF SPS AND ICT DEPARTMENT STUDENTS IN THE INTERNATIONAL WORKSHOP “A CURRICULUM FOR HEALTH INFORMATICS”

On February 4, 2026, scientific and pedagogical staff (SPS) of the Department of Information and Computer Technologies (ICT) of the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technologies of the Kyiv National University of Technologies and DesignVolivch A.P., Ph.D., Associate Professor; Novak D.S., Ph.D., Associate Professor; A.M. Kyrychenko, Ph.D., Associate Professor; V.I. Pylypenko, Senior Lecturer, as well as higher education students led by the head of the department, V.V. Skidan, Ph.D., Associate Professor, took part in the international offline workshop “A Curriculum for Health Informatics.”

The event, dedicated to modern approaches to teaching and practical application of medical informatics, took place on February 4, 2026, in the cozy and safe space of DHUB – defense engineering and prototyping platform.

The workshop brought together teachers and students from leading higher education institutions in Ukraine: Kyiv Aviation Institute State University, Mariupol State University, KNUBA, Kyiv National University of Technologies and Design, Dnipro Polytechnic National Technical University – to discuss the structure of bachelor's and master's degree programs with a focus on telemedicine, data integration, and applied health informatics.

For the first time in Ukraine, experts from leading universities in the UK, New Zealand, Canada, and Norway presented in-depth reviews of the industry and initiated a professional discussion on the implementation of a modern Health Informatics curriculum in Ukrainian universities.

The event was moderated by specialists from the CAI Youth Scientific Development Department:

- Valentyn Protopopov, Head of Department;

- Volodymyr Biriukov, Leading Specialist in International Youth Cooperation.

 

The keynote speakers at the workshop were:

- Dr John Chelsom – specialist in AI in medicine, telemedicine, and digital healthcare, Visiting Professor at the University of Oxford and Fordham University, consultant to the World Bank.

- Conceição Granja Bartnæs, PhD – Senior Researcher at the Norwegian Centre for E-health Research, Coordinator of WARIFA LINK, Expert in Telemedicine and Medical Data Interoperability, Nord University.

Online speakers:

- Chris Paton – Associate Professor at the University of Auckland, Editor-in-Chief of BMJ Digital Health & AI, author of Textbook of Digital Health.

- Naveed Dogar – DPhil researcher at the University of Oxford, specialist in open EHR systems and biomedical informatics.

As part of the project, applicants will undergo an internship in telemedicine in Rivne at the Rivne Professional College of Information Technologies from February to June 2026.

The participation of NPP and KNUTD applicants in the workshop was an important step in integrating international experience into educational programs, developing inter-university cooperation, and forming a modern vision for training specialists in Health Informatics in Ukraine.
