SIGNING OF A MEMORANDUM OF COOPERATION BETWEEN KNUTD AND SOFTORG: LAUNCH OF THE SCHOOL OF MECHANICS AND TECHNOLOGY OF GARMENT MANUFACTURING

A working meeting with representatives of Softorg was held at Kyiv National University of Technologies and Design, during which the parties signed a Memorandum of Cooperation. The document provides for the implementation of a joint educational project – the School of Mechanics and Technology of Garment Production on the platform of the University and Lviv Professional College of Fashion Industry KNUTD.

During the meeting, Softorg was represented by Dmytro Kalach. KNUTD was represented by Acting Rector Nataliia Ostapenko, Vice-Rector Liudmyla Hanushchak-Yefimenko, Head of the Research Department Liudmyla Halavska, Head of the Fashion Technology Department Olha Haranina, and Head of the Fashion and Style Department Tetiana Struminska.

Softorg is a long-standing and reliable partner of the university. It systematically supports scientific developments, promotes the professional development of young people and consistently strengthens the material and technical base of KNUTD by equipping it with modern sewing equipment. This cooperation ensures that students are trained in line with the current requirements of the labour market and that competitive specialists are trained who are able to work effectively both in Ukraine and internationally.

Given the acute shortage of personnel in light industry, scaling up educational initiatives is becoming strategically important for the sustainable development of the sector.

Within the programme, students learn the basics of technological processes – from the work of an experimental workshop to cutting and sewing; they study production preparation for the launch of new models, the development of technological documentation (TPO, SRP), as well as methods for optimising production flows: reducing downtime, rational distribution of workload, balancing workshop operations. Particular attention is paid to the practical aspects of production organisation, which are usually absent from open sources.

The signing of the Memorandum was an important step towards the systematic development of industry-specific education, strengthening the integration of business and academia, and training a new generation of highly qualified specialists for Ukraine's light industry.

The university will continue to expand partnership initiatives aimed at developing education, innovation and increasing the competitiveness of Ukrainian manufacturing.
