LECTURES FROM PRACTITIONERS FOR STUDENTS OF THE DEPARTMENT OF INDUSTRIAL PHARMACY DURING AUGUST-DECEMBER 2025

Modern higher education requires close interaction with the professional environment, which is the key to training specialists who are able to work effectively in real production conditions. Involving expert practitioners in the educational process is an important tool for forming relevant knowledge and understanding real production processes.

The staff of the Department of Industrial Pharmacy of the Kyiv National University of Technologies and Design (KNUTD) pays special attention to involving expert practitioners in the educational process of preparing applicants, in particular, to conducting lectures, seminars and professional meetings.

From August to December 2025, a number of important lectures were held for higher education applicants of the Department of Industrial Pharmacy with the participation of expert practitioners, which covered the full cycle of creating pharmaceutical and cosmetic products - from technological processes to packaging solutions, forming comprehensive competence in modern industrial practices among applicants.

One example of the systematic integration of practical experience of industry representatives into the educational process was cooperation with specialists from the UmanHimTrade Ukraine LLC, who systematically participate in teaching specialized disciplines within the educational process under the educational and professional program "European Cosmeceutics". The company's experts participated in lectures on the discipline "Pharmaceutical and Cosmetic Chemistry" and revealed the features of the use of various ingredients in cosmetic products, shared their experience in selecting substances for specific cosmetic products, taking into account their effectiveness, safety and regulatory status based on the company's product portfolio. In addition, the company's practitioners gave full lectures on the discipline "Industrial Technology of Perfumery and Cosmetic Production" and conducted laboratory work. Special attention was paid to practical aspects of production, including the design of the nomenclature, quality control and the features of technological processes.

In November 2025, the department's scientific and pedagogical staff and students took part in the Farmak Lab educational project, within the framework of which a lecture was held on the topic "Modern methods and materials for packaging of medicinal products". The speakers were Pavlo OMELIANENKO, head of the packaging research sector, and Veronika DYBCHUK, senior foreman of the solid dosage form manufacturing workshop. Pavlo OMELIANENKO detailed the functions of primary packaging of medicinal products, the main criteria for selecting packaging materials, which take into account chemical compatibility with active ingredients, barrier properties and mechanical strength, and also focused on regulatory requirements for primary packaging. Veronika DYBCHUK spoke about the operation of packaging lines, demonstrating the functioning of modern automated equipment for packaging tablets and capsules. An important part of the lecture was devoted to quality control at the packaging stage, including checking the integrity of the packaging, correct labeling, and modern methods of defect detection. Experts also outlined current trends in drug packaging, including the environmental friendliness of materials, the development of smart packaging with integrated sensors, and the introduction of protective elements to prevent counterfeiting.

As part of the conference "KyivLvivPharma-2025. Pharmaceutical technology and pharmacology in ensuring active longevity", which was held on November 20-21, 2025 at the KNUTD, the scientific and pedagogical staff and students of the department listened to a lecture by an international invited expert Dr inż. Michał STEPULAK, Senior Technical Manager BASF Personal Care / Technical Service Personal Care PL, UA, UK, Nordics on the topic "Uvinul® TS Hydro – the UVA filter in water". In his report, he described in detail the new UVA filter: its properties, key advantages and effectiveness of use in sunscreen formulas. In addition, he presented information about other sunscreen filters from BASF, which is currently one of the largest manufacturers of UV filters in Europe and offers innovative and high-quality solutions for the development of modern sunscreen products. This lecture proved to be extremely useful and informative for students studying under the educational and professional program "European Cosmeceutics", as it provided them with a deep understanding of modern approaches to the creation of sunscreens, regulatory requirements for such products on the European market, and criteria for selecting optimal ingredients for different types of formulations. Some students used the knowledge gained during the lecture when writing their qualification papers dedicated to the development and research of cosmetics with sunscreen properties, which confirms the practical value of this format.

Thus, involving practicing specialists in the educational process not only enriches students' theoretical training with up-to-date information about the state and trends of the industry, but also forms practical competencies, motivates for professional development, and ensures an understanding of the real requirements of the labor market, which is the key to a successful future career for graduates of the department.
