ACTIVE PARTICIPATION OF STUDENTS OF THE DEPARTMENT OF FASHION AND STYLE IN THE ERASMUS+ ACADEMIC MOBILITY PROGRAM

The Spring semester of the 2025/2026 academic year for students of the Faculty of Arts and Fashion, Department of Fashion and Style – Anna Spaska (2nd year, group BSh-24) and Anastasiia Stelmakh (3rd year, group BShMK-23) – began at Uşak University (Uşak, Turkey) within the framework of the Erasmus+ academic mobility program.

The first days of their stay in Uşak were a period of active adaptation and introduction to the university environment. An official meeting was held with the coordinators of the Erasmus Office, during which the organization of the educational process, academic requirements, and campus opportunities were presented in detail. Enjoyable was the warm and welcoming meeting with the Dean of the Faculty, Ozlem Kaya, who sincerely supports international students and contributes to creating a comfortable learning environment.

From the very first days at the university, students felt constant support and guidance from the Erasmus Office coordinators, Ercan Bahtiya and Kaan Cakmak. They assist in resolving organizational matters, provide консультації regarding course selection, and support students throughout the adaptation process. During the introductory meetings, the students had the opportunity to communicate with faculty members, Turkish students, and learners from various countries who are also studying under the Erasmus+ program. The international educational environment fosters openness, mutual support, and active cultural exchange.

Anna and Anastasiia study at KNUTD in different years of study; therefore, the list of disciplines they are taking at Uşak University differs. However, this did not prevent them from actively integrating into the student community from the very first days and beginning their classroom studies.

As part of the course Textile Dye and Finishing, under the supervision of lecturer Ozkan Kose, students explore modern technologies for dyeing and finishing textile materials, the specifics of production processes, and product quality standards.

An essential component of the course was an educational visit to a textile enterprise, where participants had the opportunity to become familiar with the entire production cycle - from fabric preparation to final finishing stages. Such practical experience deepens understanding of the industry’s specific features and integrates theoretical knowledge with real manufacturing processes.

During the Computer-Aided Pattern Applications course, under the supervision of lecturer Neslihan Opoz, students work in a modern computer laboratory, mastering digital methods for creating textile print patterns. The opportunity to develop visualizations and experiment with shapes, colors, and textures is particularly inspiring, opening up new horizons for creativity.

Special attention is also given to the course Fashion Illustration, which aims to develop artistic vision, individual style, and the professional presentation of fashion sketches. Working on illustrations helps students shape their personal creative approach and refine their visual communication skills within the fashion industry.

In the Clothing Workshop III discipline, under the guidance of Associate Professor Sengul Erol (Assoc. Prof. Dr.), classes are highly informative and practice-oriented. Students improve their garment construction skills, work on technological processes, and analyze the quality of finished products. Practical sessions enable them to apply their knowledge directly in garment creation and to exchange experiences with international students.

The campus of Uşak University impresses with its spacious green areas, modern infrastructure, and picturesque landscapes. In their free time, students have the opportunity to walk around the campus, enjoy the fresh air, explore new locations in the city, and draw inspiration from the atmosphere of international student life.

The combination of learning, creativity, new acquaintances, and cultural exchange creates a unique experience that contributes not only to professional but also to personal growth.

Participation in the Erasmus+ program is an essential stage in professional development and demonstrates the active international integration of the Kyiv National University of Technologies and Design into the European educational space.
