FOCUSING ON INNOVATIVE PRIORITIES OF SCIENTIFIC ACTIVITY IN 2026 BASED ON THE RESULTS OF THE WORK OF THE COUNCIL OF VICE-RECTORS FOR SCIENTIFIC WORK OF HIGHER EDUCATION INSTITUTIONS OF UKRAINE

On February 19-20, Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv and Kyiv National University of Civil Engineering and Architecture became hospitable venues for the meeting of the Council of Vice-Rectors for Scientific Work of Higher Education Institutions of Ukraine. Vice-Rector for Scientific and International Activities Hanushchak-Yefimenko Liudmyla represents Kyiv National University of Technologies and Design as Deputy Chairman of the Presidium Council for the Economic Direction since 2021.

The meeting was held with the participation of the relevant Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine Denys Kurbatov and representatives of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine!

An important part of the work was the presentation of the effective report of the Chairman of the Council of Vice-Rectors on the scientific work of higher education institutions of Ukraine, the presentation of the model of formula financing based on the results of state certification in terms of conducting scientific activity by the profile Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine Denys Kurbatov, as well as the recognition of experts who in 2025 performed the largest volume of expertise in the field of science and innovation, recognition of their contribution to the development of Ukrainian science and, accordingly, the effective presidium of the Council of Vice-Rectors. In total, about 2,000 experts work in the unified expertise system of the Ministry of Education and Science, including almost 200 foreign specialists. As the profile Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine Denys Kurbatov noted, as a result of the turning point of 2025, “we have significant support for financing the scientific sphere by +41%. This is an indicator of effective transformations taking place in the system. The main focuses of 2025 were — conducting a reporting campaign, state certification of scientific institutions according to a single updated methodology, improving state procurement mechanisms, launching a network of startup schools in the regions, developing the Science.City initiative and introducing paid expertise.

The focus of 2026 is applied research in accordance with national priorities, financing scientific research, developing a technology transfer system, high-quality and timely use of budget funds and improving infrastructure, in particular the Centers for Collective Use of Scientific Research.

Modern innovative developments, a sports complex and scientific infrastructure, digital models of managing the educational process and working with potential applicants were presented by the rector of KNUBA Oleksii Dniprov on the next day of the meeting. The management model using AI to improve the work of the admissions committee, and new modern services demonstrated in action have become innovations of the university ecosystem over the past year and should be scaled up in domestic higher education institutions, for effective work with youth, who are the potential for studying at universities and rebuilding the post-war economy of Ukraine.

The administration of the Kyiv National University of Technology and Design expresses gratitude to the representatives of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, the relevant Deputy Minister Denys Kurbatov, the rectors of the Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv Volodymyr Bugrov and the Kyiv National University of Construction and Architecture Oleksii Dniprov, the Council of Vice-Rectors for Scientific Work of Higher Education Institutions of Ukraine, represented by the Chairman of the Council Volodymyr Pavlikov, experts, representatives of the Scientific Committee of the National Council for the Development of Science and Technology, the Council of Young Scientists under the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine for their professionalism, willingness to work systematically for the development of science and post-war reconstruction.
