On March 12, 2026, the Department of Philology and Translation hosted an open guest lecture for students of the Philology specialty entitled “Come. See. Translate: Employment Life Hacks.” The lecture was delivered by Oleksandr Bondarenko, Associate Professor at Volodymyr Vynnychenko Central Ukrainian State University, Director of the translation company Translatel, and a member of the Linguistic Services Industry Expert Group (LIND Expert Group) of the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Translation.



During the lecture, students became acquainted with current trends in the development of the modern linguistic services market and the specific features of the translator’s professional activity in the context of digitalization and globalization. Oleksandr Bondarenko shared his practical experience in the translation business, outlined the key requirements employers place on young specialists, and discussed possible career paths in the translation industry. Particular attention was given to preparing a translator’s CV, building a professional portfolio, establishing effective communication with clients and translation agencies, and using modern digital tools and technologies in translation practice.



The lecture also included the analysis of practical employment cases in the translation field, common mistakes made by beginners in the profession, and strategies for avoiding them. Students learned about cooperation with translation companies, the principles of organizing translation projects, and the specifics of working in the international linguistic services market. The knowledge and practical recommendations obtained during the lecture will contribute to the development of students’ professional skills, help strengthen their translation competence, and enhance their competitiveness in the modern labour market.
