Practical training of students is an important and mandatory component of the educational and professional program for the G15 Specialty in Light Industry Technologies. International internships are of particular importance, as they help consolidate acquired knowledge and skills, expand professional experience, familiarize students with industry standards and approaches to production organization, modern technologies, and aim to enhance the competitiveness of future specialists.
Within the framework of cooperation between Kyiv National University of Technologies and Design and the sewing enterprise Flaxpol (Kłobuck, Poland), students of the Faculty of Arts and Fashion – Valeriya Slynko (Educational Program: Modeling, Designing, and Artistic Decoration of Light Industry Products), Iryna Dmytryshyna (Educational Program: Garment Design and Technology), and Vitalina Stepanets (Educational Program: Fashion Industry) – completed an industrial internship at a modern enterprise specializing in the production of specialized clothing. The internship program provided full support for students, including accommodation, meals, and reimbursement of transportation expenses.
The students of KNUTD were warmly and hospitably welcomed by the factory director, Beata Dworacka, and the head of the sewing workshop and design-technological bureau, Yuliya Tomys, who provided professional guidance and support to the interns.
From February 9 to March 7, 2026, the interns carried out the tasks set by the internship program at Flaxpol, one of the largest manufacturers of workwear in Poland. During the first weeks of the internship, students worked in various production positions, including seamstress, quality control inspector, cutter, designer, packer, and pattern marker. The final week was dedicated to an individual project, in which students completed personalized assignments. The interns developed and produced samples of a jumpsuit, trousers, and a jacket. Technical drawings of the garments, pattern construction, layout planning, assembly of technological processes, and creation of machine embroidery schemes were all completed by the students using modern specialized software.
At the end of the internship, the students presented their garments to the factory director, Beata Dworacka.

In their free time, especially on weekends, they had the opportunity to explore Polish culture by visiting the cities of Wrocław, Krakow, and Poznan.

The management of the enterprise traditionally highly appreciated the students’ level of professional training, their responsibility, and their engagement in the work.
Another valuable experience was the industrial internship at Gatam (Antwerp, Kingdom of Belgium) completed by Kateryna Shushura, Educational Program: Garment Design and Technology.

As part of the internship, Kateryna studied the operations of the enterprise: she conducted production control at various stages, became familiar with the specifics of experimental and cutting production, worked with patterns, performed tasks of a production technologist, studied the warehouse section, and researched the properties of materials used in garment manufacturing.
During her practical training, Kateryna also participated in a master class organized by the Antwerp Fashion School – the Royal Academy of Antwerp, which aimed to develop printed materials for the company’s products.

We sincerely thank the management of Flaxpol and Gatam for providing students with the opportunity to complete internships in the G15 Specialty Light Industry Technologies, for their high level of organization, mentorship, support, and the valuable professional experience offered.
