FashionTEX — FashionTEX is a 3-year project aiming to create expertise and educate students in digital fashion at fashion universities. It will enhance the curricula to future-oriented and more sustainable content. The fashion industry relies on digital fashion in all areas of the value cycle, from design to sales and the technologies used develop rapidly. Our needs analysis shows that education at fashion schools in Europe is often behind what the industry already implemented. Also, schools are at very different stages with their education: some are teaching at advanced level, others are still at the beginning of training digital fashion. FashionTEX closes these gaps. The implementation of digital fashion will be realized with different project modules: ATELIER courses at each partnering fashion school, joint MAKERSPACES and public FASHION SHOWS. By meetings, conferences and workshops, online and onsite, the partners cooperate closely and develop education modules that raise the quality of apprenticeship at the participating universities and beyond to a new level of knowledge and sharing of expertise. The results will be implemented and passed on to lecturers and students in the future, based on a high-quality common curriculum allowing European student exchange programs. The professional opportunities and competitive potential of graduates on the job market will rise sharply due to expertise in digital fashion and experience in international collaboration.
Project duration: 36 months, from November 1, 2023 to October 31, 2026
In general, the project involves the implementation of 5 work packages.
Work Package 1 “Management, Administration and Coordination” ensures the management, administration and coordination of the project as a whole and evaluates the success of the project against the achievement of project objectives, deliverables and milestones within the defined project duration, budget and grant agreement.
Work package 2 "Communication and Dissemination" provides visibility of this European Union-funded Creative Europe project and its key activities and results to target groups, stakeholders and the public.
Work Package 3 "Networking and Knowledge Sharing" includes communication and collaboration between partners in working groups and committees through meetings, seminars, expert lectures, trainings and conferences. Collaboration occurs face-to-face and online and uses project management and collaboration methods and tools. Faculty from partner universities are trained in this work package and Ateliers training courses, Makerspace students in residence programs and concepts for fashion shows are developed.
Work Package 4 "Capacity Building" includes the implementation of Atelier courses in all partner universities. The content of the Ateliers changes as it is repeated during the 2nd and 3rd years of the project in terms of content, technical and digital relevance and conceptual complexity. Also included in this work package are the Makerspace student residency programs held in September for 2nd and 3rd years at the cutting-edge D Digital Fashion, focusing on production and presentation for selected students from all partners.
Work Package 5 "Creative Expression" includes the implementation of 2 fashion shows in October in the 2nd and 3rd year of the project. They demonstrate the developed skills and innovative experiences of the university partners and their students in the field of digital fashion to target groups, industry and the public interested in fashion.
